I was so excited to receive this and I am sure it is a great machine! However, I was sent a North American machine which is the wrong voltage even to be used with a power adapter here in the UK.I purchased this through Amazon resale and I am certain that this is the reason that the machine was sent back in the first place. I imagine that the seller received the return and relisted it despite the reason for the return.Off to buy another machine, and probably not from Amazon this time!

I mostly do things like jeans repair and the occasional hem or small clothing project. This is a nice, simple machine that does everything I need to do without being overly complex or temperamental. The pedal is easy to use and allows you to go really slow or really fast, depending on your project. When I first got it, putting the bobbin in place was a bit of a challenge but they have good instructional videos and one tip is to use a very different color bobbin from your main thread so you can see it easily when loading a new bobbin. The only thing I would wish for is a bit longer machine arm/sewing surface when you remove the base extension. It can be hard to get all the way up a pant leg without having to lift the machine a bit. I think this is a pretty standard challenge in all machines except the more expensive or specialized ones. I would recommend this machine and feel like it was a great value for the money- I've already paid for it by salvaging 3 pairs of jeans that I don't have to replace.

Easy to use once I mastered the threading and bobbin insertion, and that the wheel moves differently from my old machine. I really like the responsiveness of the foot pedal and that it's easy to control the speed without your material suddenly zooming off like it's trying to merge onto a freeway.Be sure you read the manual on how to thread it. Pay particular attention; hold the filled bobbin up with the thread hanging down on the left; that's the way you insert it into the bobbin case. If you get skipped stitches or tangles, double check that you threaded the bobbin correctly. I watched a YouTube video (sorry can't remember which one, but not from Janome) for this model and the lady did it wrong, then complained and sent her machine back.Also note that the hand wheel should be turned toward you, not away as is the case with many other brands.I'm used to using those little round felt pieces at the bottom of the spool pins and the machine didn't come with any, but anything you put under including a piece of paper will keep the spool from scratching the machine.All in all, an excellent machine at this price point. I got the blue one and really like how it looks in my cottagecore room. Lightweight enough for an old lady to lift. Very happy with my purchase.
