Grand-daughter (3) loves it. Much less mindless than many of today's offerings. A classic anyway.

Bird Is The Word!
I remember this 1980s classic children's T.V show from my own childhood! It featured in what the BBC called their 'See Saw' programmes for younger viewers, which were aired after the One o' clock news, if memory serves! Other shows featured included, Chock-a-Block, Bric-a- Brac (where Play School and Play Away Veteran Brian Cant ran a junk shop, and it was all very Sesame Street where he collected items beginning with the same letter each week! Like a bear, in a bowler, with a brolly and bananas! You get the idea!) and Hokey Cokey. I'm showing my age! But Pigeon Street was the best! It's all about the quirky characters who live on said street, and how they display some true community spirit when the occasion calls for it! Some of them have their own catchy songs, most of which I can remember even now! Like the Molly and Polly song, 'Molly with an M and Polly with a P', The song for Mr Jupiter and Mr Baskerville, 'One looking up, one looking down,' and best of all, Mr Macadoo's song! 'Like a vet, Macadoo will help your pet' and so on! It's wonderful for children because you get a twelve minute story, those catchy songs and the wonderful brightly coloured characters. And, let's not forget the pigeons! I enjoyed every minute of it! You get all thirteen episodes (I always thought they made more than that!) and the bonus material features all of the songs from the series. I particularly like the frenemies who live next door to each other, Daisy and Rose, and it's almost like a Utopian neighbourhood full of lovely people. Makes me wonder if Monsieur Rogers was inspired by his own childhood when he put this gem together! It's about time other generations were introduced to this platinum piece of Children's television. And...I'll bet you it's only going to be a matter of time before a film version of this show is commissioned!

Great release, shame about the copyright notice alteration
Great to see this finally released on DVD with good quality picture and sound considering its age.The soundtrack to the series is a great special feature too. However, a bit disappointing to discover that the original BBC copyright stamp has been replaced on the end credits with the current copyright owner instead. Seems a pity to do this to the end credits, takes away a little bit of the nostalgia so have knocked off one star because of this. Still a great release nevertheless.

Great songs and colours
I used to watch this back in the 80's with my young son and it brings back such lovely memories. I love the songs, especially Long Distance Clara and I just love the reggae music as well. I love the gorgeous bright colours (I've always loved bright vivid colours). The pigeons are so cute! Even though I'm in my sixties now, this takes me back to my 20's and I watch this DVD to chill out and get away from the harsh realities of life. Would recommend for anyone wanting to "chill out".

Clearly this DVD was a labour of love
Clearly this DVD was a labour of love. The transfer from the original film looks incredible, the video is progressive (not interlaced) - this is definitely the best the show has ever looked. They also went the extra mile to give us standalone versions of songs from the series without the original dialog overlaid. I love this old cartoon and I couldn't be happier with the DVD.

I love pigeons
You have not lived if you have not seen this show, this buries all the shows these youngsters watch now a days, teaching kids good morals and respect. These youngsters do not have any thing like this to guide them, no wonder the world is so messed up

Still makes me ridiculously happy!
Pigeon Street is possibly my most beloved childhood TV series (amongst many), I still want to live there! This DVD is brilliant, the animation is clear and vivid and there are songs as extra features. For nostalgic adults who still want to visit Pigeon Street and also little kids this is a great buy. So happy to finally have this available.
