Smarter Paws Seatbelt Lead with Shock Absorber and Padded Handle

I shopped around a lot before buying two of these leads for our dogs (mini-schnauzers). The leads are sturdy, the padded grip is comfortable, I was concerned that they might be too long once attached to the clip in the car, but they seem fine if you shorten them with the adjustment thingy (!). I have no idea about the shock absorber function - I don't really notice it. The clip is sturdy and it's so convenient to have the clip and lead in one. All round good quality and a great price.

Well made, good value combined lead and seat belt and the bungee is a great idea. BUT... it's just too long for my liking when used to secure the dog in the car. Even on the shortest possible length (~70cm from base of harness clip to seat belt), he can stand so far forward he's practically between the front seats. I have had to knot the lead in order to shorten it. This has taken it down to about 55cm.Yes, I know this is partly a training issue. But the freedom of movement the dog has is, in my opinion, excessive. This is a shame because it is otherwise a great product.

Fully extended this lead is ideal for normal dog walking and the handle is comfortable. Not sure about the benefit of the bungee on a short lead but it is marginally better than no bungee in preserving my dog's neck when he lunges. A longer bungee on a long line would be more appropriate but I'm not complaining. It does what it says it will do. When shortened the lead plugs into a seat-belt socket allowing the dog some movement in a vehicle but preventing him accessing the front seats. However I think there is too much freedom for a full five stars as I still get a paw across the head without warning, which could be dangerous.

I love this product but unfortunately after a month of use it the cliff that goes onto the collar broke I ended up having to fit another clip on there are which isn't the same as you buy the product hoping good he would hold your dog safely on the lead Which didn't. Other than this I do like the lead it has everything you need on one lead

I needed a new lead for my dog. She is a rescue and rather scatty on a lead. Having looked though many on Amazon I noticed this one. The price was in my range and I liked the idea of the shock absorber for when she pulls to get away from things that frighten her. I wasn't particularly looking for a seatbelt lead as she travels best in a cage. However, this would be ideal for a short trip to the post box etc. So I ordered it. I was amazed at this lead when it arrived. It is very well made, sturdy, comfortable on my hand, works great on the seatbelt clip, (the lead length is adjustable so your dog doesn't have too much length to be a problem when driving), it's just fantastic - even moreso for the price. A real lead for life and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for one.

I was really surprised at the quality of these leads, considering the cost. All of the metal fixing are strong and sturdy, and they work no problem with our car seatbelts. I love the fact that they have a handle on them as well as the seatbelt fixture, so it's really easy to get our dogs in and out of the car.The only reason I took one star off is because I'd like to be able to adjust them to be shorter, they're a little longer than I'd like and I'm not sure how that would affect the ability of the leads to stop the dogs safely in the even of a crash.

I really like the quality of this, and it works well as lead for getting in and out of the car. The only downside is that even at its shortest length it’s still too long to stop my medium sized cockapoo from going off the back seat. However I contacted Max Paws about this and they have taken the review on board and promised to look into designing something a little shorter for smaller dogs which I will definitely be looking out for in the future. I wanted a seatbelt lead for my small dog that would allow him to be able to move around on the back seat with ease, and not just restrict him to one sitting position next to the seat belt lock. This product, for my dog, is perfect! He could sit, stand and lay down comfortably, and there was no fuss about then trying to attach a separate lead to his harness to get him out of the car..... this has a handle too! I also liked the fact the lead is not rigid and buffers my dog if he pulls suddenly on the lead, or, if the car took a bump. I would recommend this product to others for their pets with confidence!
