True protection
My son is a snowboarder and has tried a number of protective undergarments. However, there is a key feature of this particular model that really helps your butt/tailbone… and that is the foam protection portions are sewn so that they have hardly any seams or gaps between the next pad section. This is important because my son complained that some of the other brands had gaps that were wide as 3 inches!Through testing, we’ve found that you do not want any gaps, especially in your butt area and tailbone!!Good job to the manufacturer for recognizing these sensitive areas! This is a recommended purchase !

Snowboarding bliss
These literally saved my hide on a particularly icy day. I also own a demon united pants, but I like these better than the demon. These are more comfortable and have a better coverage for the tail bone area.Even on one of those 45f days, it wasn't too bad and the breathability was good. The waist adjustment is excellent it stays in place (the demon tend to slip downwards). The size chart is accurate, just follow it according to your waist size.

Could be better though good enough already
* Overall, this protective hip short is a good product to protect me in falling for my downhill longboarding.* Usage: - I intended to use this as my hip protective short for my downhill longboarding for falling on my sides, tailbone, or hip in general.* Good: - Overall design has good coverage for tailbone and hip bone, my sides. - The short is very stretchable, has no scratch feel on my skin, and has very soft fabric and no allergic reaction from my skin (I have sensitive skin to other scratchy fabric or textures). - Tested two days in this 87F with 85% humidity. And, I have no overheateding feeling on my body (hip) and no sticky feeling of my heavy sweats around my entire hip. - General falling tests on my tailbone, hip in general, and both sides of my hip. It has good protection from impact - I did do heavy falling tests.* To-Improve: - The side pads on both sides of my hip are a bit thin. - For skating sports and my downhill longboarding, it is very common to fall on the sides of one's hip besides falling on the tailbone, I felt that they should make the pads on both sides to be at least 50% thicker to provide real falling protection to protect the trochanter bones. This is the reason that I did not give a 5-star rating to this product.

Great padding.
I have fallen off my skates many times and these pads saved my hips and butt. I am a big guy so when I hit the ground I need something that will absorb the impact. These are your pads.I wear sweatpants or basketball shorts over these and you can not tell I am wearing pads. Great job here. These pads will save you.

TOALLY WORTH THE MONEY
The media could not be loaded. I recently started roller skating and needed some supports on my side and back. This product was recommended by a friend, and I decided to try it. Not only it provides a lot of support but also helps me with my confidence when I realize I am about to fall down. I am more willing to take risk after knowing that I am wearing this. Best part is, it can be completely hidden if you're wearing some baggy shorts. Velcro has a very strong stickiness to it. It is plenty stretchy. Just follow the sizing chart and you can buy one that fits you perfectly. It's not very airy, so, you will get hot below your waist.

Broken Tailbone
I went snowboarding for the very first time ever and wore these thinking they would help protect me when I fell. My very first fall was extremely painful and later found out I broke my tailbone. I was really bummed because I looked at several different pads before I chose these thinking they’d be good. I’m very upset and I’m going to be in pain for a very long time.

Great with one flaw
I used this for snowboarding and it saved my tail and left hip several times in one season. So, that was the great part. However, the velcro wore out fairly quick compared to other safety gear bought and used exactly at the same time for one season of snowboarding. My other gear still has crisp velcro, but half way through the first season, this velcro started slipping. There was no fuzz in little hooks...it just stopped being velcro. Best thing is to sew it. So, it is geat safety gear with a velcro flop.

Best shorts for snowboarding!
I've tried multiple diffferent padded shorts that are similar price, and this one is by far the best. The butt padding is the thickest and most effective out of any that I've tried. I've fallen pretty hard on it, and it really makes it almost pain free. Others really don't cushion nearly as well and will still hurt when you fall. This one fits a bit tighter and really stays in place. The velcro "zipper" creates a fit that puts these shorts ahead of the competition. It hugs your but so it won't slide down over time. So the tail bone pad stays over your tailbone really well. Also is comfortable even after 8 hours straight of wearing them. 10 out of 10 would recommend to anyone who is learning to snowboard. Or do anything that involves falling on your butt. The only complaint I have is that they put the scratchy velcro on the side that faces your skin. So it can scratch your lower tummy. But this can be easily avoided by applying the velcro so the scratchy part doesn't overlap and contact your skin. Or by hiking up your underwear so that it acts as a protective barrier. Definitely not a deal breaker.
