Sumptuous
I'm fascinated by the art, jewellery and history of imperial Russia. This book gives you a peerless insight into the glorious jewels worn by the Romanovs and their relatives. Fabulous pictures are complimented by fascinating stories and phenomenal details on the origins, owners and the demise (sadly) of many of the glorious pieces of jewels and pearls. (Strange though that the author hasn't included the wedding gift of Nicholas' parents to the bride: a fabulous sautoir of pearls costing 250,000 roubles in 1894, the most expensive item ever to emerge from Faberge's workshops)Worth every penny.

Such a fabulous and poignant book! Full of lovely phootgraphs of the amazing jewellery produced for the Romanovs A book you will dip into time and again though it has a lot of very interesting text which explains the whole story of the jewels and their acquisition and of course at the same time shows the life and times of the last doomed Tsar and his familyA wonderful record and an exquisite volume and [available on Amazon at such a good price.] For lovers of jewellery, history and costume this book is very highly recommended!
