If you considering buying a cheaper alternative - don't. Buy this instead.
Does the job excellently. I used this to replace the strap on my Longines (which has some pretty robust spring bars) and it worked perfectly. It allowed me to carefully remove the spring bars without damaging the watch or risk flinging the bar across the room once it had been removed due to it slipping out from the tool's grip.I have bought cheaper alternatives to this in the past and found them to be either the wrong fit for my watches or to literally crack under the pressure (the strength of the Longines spring bars actually broke the last cheap removal tool I bought). Breaking a tool halfway though spring bar removal can result in a lost spring bar (as it shoots across the room) or worse, cause the tool to slip and scratch your watch. A lesson in "buy cheap buy twice" for me!If you are in doubt about saving a few pounds and buying a cheaper alternative - don't. Buy this and avoid risking damage to your watch and having to buy a Bergeon anyway. It arrived earlier than expected too so nothing but 5 stars from me.

Throw away the freebies and just buy this
You get what you pay for usually and this is no exception. The free versions of this tool that come with watch straps etc are rubbish. They bend and snap far too easily. This in the other hand is likely to last you a lifetime. As soon as you pick it up you know it's a really nice piece of kit.So if you like your watches as much as I do, don't be stingy. Fork out for something that won't let you down, ever.

A high quality and effective tool for changing watch straps
I chose this tool out of the options on offer and am not disappointed. It is Swiss made. The 'blades' are of hardened tempered steel and being screw in they are replaceable. It is comfortingly sturdy in the hand and easy to grip. After changing my first watch strap using it I can say that it's far, far easier and less fiddly for the task than a fine screwdriver. The split blade end holds the end of the spring bars just as it's meant to. There is a choice of smaller and larger blades at the the two ends. Truthfully, this is better quality than needed for occasional use but it's a really nice tool.

A must it if you regularly swap your straps
UPDATE 5TH MAY 2020Best thing I've purchased in relation to watch repairs ... and the ONLY tool I trust when changing straps on my watch (use those cheap included tools at your own peril!)Just arrived ... fast delivery too! Looks to be a solid tool - I was fed up of using the cheap tools that you get free with NATO straps - they just break, bend and scratch your watches - so I thought it was worth the small price to have a long lasting, quality tool that isn't going to scratch and damage my expensive watches. So far looks great; hence no reason not to award 5 stars.

Forget the rest, the Bergeon is best!
Having gone through any number of cheap spring bar tools over the past few years, I decided to see if the Bergeon tool was deserving of it's reputation.I have to say an emphatic "YES IT IS!" This tool is so much better made than all the others that it makes the act of removing spring bars, so much easier. It's made from hardened steel with sharp, machines edges that just glide between strap and case to lift the spring bar out and away from the watch. If you're a watch enthusiast, you definitely, definitely need a Bergeon spring bar tool in your life.

The quality choice
I’ve paid the same for a full kit of watch/strap tools, and yeah, you can clearly see why they’re so cheap. So this spring bar tool is the first one from my cheap kit that I’ve replaced with a quality brand item - and the difference is night and day. The weight, grip, and length feel just right, and also appreciate the fork ends are easily replaceable, and/or swapped for different tool end. Will look for this brand again, in order to upgrade my cheap kit

Top notch!
professional product so quality is as you'd expect from bergeon. Size of small fork perfect for removing bars from watches that use solid bracelet collars. Nice weight and nice grip to ensure good leverage and control. Would definitely buy again
