Electro Harmonix Hot Wax Dual Overdrive Pedal

On their own or in unison the Crayon and the Hot tubes can give you both biting crystal clear overdrive to wonderful growling tones and everything in between and it is very easy to use also i run a big muff into it and it tames the noise and shapes the fuzz tones excellently,oh and the price is very good two great pedals for the price of one! and it came with power supply included which is a bonus.

A great dual overdrive pedal. You can get a really good range of tones from it, from a clean-ish boost to really heavy overdrive. Versatile sounds with good levels of tweakability. I use the crayon more than the hot tubes, but I love having both in one unit.

Classic seventies and modern overdrive tones come together in a single package. The Hot Tubes side is warm and responsive, while the Crayon side is crisp and has enough gain to get into distortion if that's what you're looking for. With the tone shaping of both Bass and Treble applied to both overdrives, there is some compromising necessary, but you can manage some good tonal shaping, from a classic mid boost by rolling both back to biting treble boosts or thunderous bottom end.It works well into solid state, all tube and digital modelling amplifiers, largely because of the flexibility of the EQ and even plays nicely with a Big Muff.The pedal is made to EHX's current high standards and appears to be both robust and durable. It would be nice to have the option to switch which side comes first, but that's being greedy at this price point.

I now have tinnitus! This pedal is amazing, but by christ it makes you want to crank up your amp.Playing this through an Orange rocker 15 terror, the hot tubes side gives you that classic 70's overdriven sound. Add the crayon for the lead tone and you have pure magic, tinnitus and pissed off neighbours.Worth every single penny.

I use this on my bass, and it is exactly the sound I was looking for.

EHX muss man wohl nicht vorstellen - tolle Pedale einer New Yorker Schmiede zu sehr günstigen (ok: Fernost-Fertigungs-) Preisen.Die Kombination zweier Pedale der letzten Jahren mit der Zusatzoption des "blend", also der Zumischung des Pedal-Signals zum clean-Signal ist natürlich eine top Idee und macht den Treter noch flexibler. Zudem ist er wirklich günstig.Gemessen daran finde ich den Hot Wax klasse. Beide Zerrer bieten allein brauchbare Sounds, sind v.a. im eher moderaten Zerrbereich gut einzusetzen. Das geht vor cleanem Amp und sie pusten auch schön dreckige oder angezerrte Amps an. Auch in Kombination mit anderen Zerrern danach funktioniert es bei mir mit den meisten Amps ziemlich gut.Beide zusammen können natürlich heftig "saften", wobei man aufpassen muss, es nicht zu übertreiben - auch die Nebengeräusche steigen dann ungünstig in die Höhe. Vom Sound sind eher klassische Vorbilder zu hören, keine super moderne "mid-scoop" (o.ä.) Distortion.Gut finde ich, dass beide sehr klar zu unterscheiden sind - aber auch etwas speziell und stark färbend. Der Hot Tubes kommt bei mir eher als Booster mit relativ neutralem Signal und "britzeliger" Gainstruktur. Übertreibt man es, klingt das Ding fast wie ein Filter (am Rechtsanschlag fast wie ein bitcrusher). Der Crayon ist klar ein TS-Clon mit entsprechend grünem Sound. Das Originalsignal wird schon stark überdeckt - der Sound ist aber schön schmatzig, britisch und macht Spaß.Um der "Verfremdung" entgegenzuwirken kann man natürlich das Mischverhältnis ändern - super Sache. Allerdings bin ich meist auf nahezu voller Zumischung, weil es für meine Ohren schnell Hörbar wird, dass dem eigentlich Signal etwas unterlegt wird, was dann entweder fremd klingt - oder, wenn man die Mischung zu weit runterdreht, eher wie ein Störgeräusch im Hintergrund. Auf jeden fall kann (und muss) man viel herumprobieren und kann auf alle möglichen Situationen vielfältig reagieren.Schade, wie oft bemängelt, ist die gemeinsame Klangregelung, die natürlich viel Flexibilität nimmt, und dass man die Signalreihenfolge nicht ändern kann. Von der Erfahrung her würde ich es ggf. sogar eher andersherum machen: den kräftigen Tube Screamer mit eher neutralem (treble-)Boost des Hot Tubes etwas kitzeln.Alles in allem aber keine Frage: tolles Pedal!

Assolutamente fantastico, due pedali in uno e la possibilità di usarli in combo miscelando il suono dei due overdrive.L'overdrive ha una dinamica pazzesca, l'altra distorsione è un po' più spinta con meno dinamica ma comunque con un bel suono.Io lo consiglio

Superbe Ehx, ma deuxième et toujours content de la qualité et du son malgré les footswitchs les plus bruyant de la planète.Je joue en drop G actuellement et j'avais une OD de Mxr, mais je trouvais cinglant la perte du bas du son de la guitare en comparant la OD en bypass.J'ai longuement hésité avec une JHS Sweet Tea V3 (double OD avec un potard pour rajouter du son clean) mais le prix c'est x3 celui de la Ehx.Du coup pouvoir mettre en parallèle le son de l'Od avec le son "clean" de la guitare avant d'attaquer le preamp cela ma fait gagner une définition dans le bas tout en gardant la pêche du son OD. Il y a une section post EQ (bass + treble) qui permet de corriger/altérer la tonalité de la guitare.Possibilité d'utiliser qu'une seule OD ou les deux en série, sachant que l'Od Crayon est avant la Hot wax, du coup le volume knob de la crayon permet de calibrer l'entré du signal dans la hot wax et son Volume a elle devient le volume master quand elle est engagé, sinon c'est le volume de l'Od Crayon qui devient master volume.La section post Eq ne marche que si l'une des OD est activé.Aimer mon commentaire si vous voulez une vidéo !
