The colours and the quality are superb

Good quality paints in an amazingly compact set. Great for travelling and outdoor painting

I bought this as a gift. This seemed pretty expensive to me, and I agonized over the choice between this one and the cheaper version with a different set of colours. I settled on this because the pigments in this set were described by reviewers as being of professional grade, and also they looked less toxic (no cadmium...). Plus the intended recipient is a retired professional illustrator so I figured it was best not to cheap out on the pigments. Said recipient was absolutely delighted with it, though. I've given it four rather than five stars partly because at the price, I feel they could have included at least one more (larger) collapsible brush.

My other half bought this for me as a Christmas present. It's absolutely lovely. It's small enough that I can fit it in my handbag, which was exactly what I was looking for. The colours are rich, creamy, and a delight to work with. I bought a size 4 travel brush from another company and intend to purchase a few more in other sizes, as the brush that comes with this set is miniscule and cannot be used for anything other than fine details. The paints are all in individual half-pan wells, so it'll be very easy to swap them out as they wear down, or to replace them with other colours I prefer (the Chinese white, for example, I never use). Its size, paint quality, and layout is perfect for what I needed. I've taken to using it at home as well, for those times when I don't want to take up the entire table with all my supplies! I spent a bit of the Christmas holidays curled up on the sofa in the lounge with my family, and this allowed me to paint in their company without much intrusion.

You really can’t go wrong with Winsor and Newton Professional watercolour. The paint is gorgeous (though I know American artists seem not to agree). This is an ingenious travel palette with an integrated water bottle/palette, more palette space, a brush and sponge. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

The paint is vibrant and easy to rewet pans, love Winsor&Newton. I was sad because I got two of the same half pans and the sponge was mouldy (!), maybe an old article stored incorrectly. The case also was a bit difficult to open, I must have been damaged. However the awesome customer service assistance was able to provide an adequate solution addressing the problem responsibly, they partally refunded for the defects and I am very happy about it now! Thank you Amazon, always five-star-quality service!

This a useful watercolour set for outdoor painting as I love painting out of doors. The little brush is inadequate though useful for detail. That is why I bought the Winsor & Newton Cotman Field Brush Set to compliment it. The little palettes are sufficient with two that open out with another which doubles as a water bottle. I had always wanted this box for my own use but could never get an empty box to fill with my own colours. When I saw this set at a fabulous price I was pleased to purchase it. The full retail price is over the top though this a undoubtedly a quality product. This is why I find Amazon so good on price with all its helpful reviews and comments before deciding to purchase. I wrestled with myself over whether to give this three or four stars. 1. The water bottle leaks when I transport it full. I could send it to W&N for a relacement but it does not contain enough water for practical use. 2. The range of colours is not well thought out and unbalanced. The Winsor Green Yellow with Winsor Blue Green I have never used before and missed the old Winsor blue and green colours. I removed five colours and replaced them with some old stock I had from twenty five years ago when I worked in an art shop. Empty pans can be filled from tubes. There was only one brown. 3. I found the thumb ring comes off at times. However the field box fits neatly into the hand. Apart from these quibbles of mine I like the box very much. The purchaser of this field box will find that there is room for two more half pans either side of the water well which can be secured with blue tack or something similar giving fourteen colours. The box fits neatly into my "bum bag" which I sling across my shoulder and my W&N brush case in my pocket with a case bound Moleskin water colour pad. I am then complete artist. What goes on the paper is a different matter.

This is a great travel pallet! The colors are perfect for the landscape that I paint pleinair. The paints work well on 100% cotton, cellulose, and mixed media paper depending on your desired outcome/style. The pallet is well made easy to use and to pack into a small bag. I do take along other travel brushes but the tiny one it comes with is great for details and is the cutest little brush I own:) I was also able to fit 2 more color into the pallet using some extra pans I already had. It also helped the other pans not slide around. It was a happy discovery! Im very pleased. I will continue to enjoys this for a long time.

Beautiful colours, in a very handy travel box. The pallets are a bit wobbly but I use a separate tiny porcelain pallet so I don't mind it. I do find that they need to maybe change their colour pallet in there. I'm used to either a neutral pallet with earth tones a warm one or cold one, but this one has a mix of warm cold and neutral tones. So I had to buy extra to switch my tones. So my mixes where more pure and I could get the colours out there I like. But overal if you don't mind a mixed pallet then still great thing.
