So easy! No more messy tubs of spackle for those small jobs!
This could not be easier to fill small holes, such as when you take something off the wall and want to cover the nail hole. I just went through my house filling nail holes where I moved or removed pictures, artwork, etc, and it took no time to fill the holes. I am waiting for it to dry so I can lightly sand it with the sander on the lid--but the 'spatula' on the other end smoothed it out very well so won't require much sanding. I'm letting mine dry a few hours even though it dries quickly, at least to the touch (I later did sand it and it was quick and easy.) It squeezes out easily and is thick enough to do the job - not thin and messy. Application very easy. The functionality of this little set is wonderful. I didn't have to get out that old tub of spackle and wrestle with the mess just for some tiny nail holes! Value is great too especially since it's a '3 in one' system. One tip - don't be like I was and keep the cap off when you are smoothing out the area with the spatula -- I accidentally squeezed the tube when scraping and a bunch of the spackle oozed out on a metal table, part of the wall, and my floor. It came off the wall okay (I can put some paint on that), and it came off the laminate floor easily, but I liked never to have removed it from the metal (iron) table! I tried water, I tried soap and water, I tried alcohol -it still has a white cast there where I spilled it - I am not happy that I did that! So just be careful. Happy I ordered this!

Love this stuff!!
I absolutely love this stuff!! I had tons and tons of tiny tack holes in just about every room of my apartment and they're terribly annoying to look at. Admittedly, I am NOT the fixer upper type. I don't know anything about tools or building supplies or fixing anything in my home. All I know is what I remember seeing my Dad do while I was growing up. This stuff requires no kind of knowledge or experience. It's basically self explanatory. I was a little confused when I first went to squeeze the stuff out and it was super liquidy. I tried shaking it but there's really no way to mix it. It's usable but not the ideal consistency. After a few squeezes it was no longer watery and more of a paste which worked perfectly. I squeezed it onto a folded up paper towel (since applying it directly to the wall was a bit awkward), wiped a little over the holes I wanted covered and then used the top, flat surface of the bottle to smooth it out over the holes. You'll have to wipe off the flat edge to get the extra paste off. Once you've started you'll want to finish right away because this stuff can dry pretty fast. Don't worry about making it look perfect. As long as the holes are filled you're good to go. I left the areas to dry for 30-45 minutes, though I highly doubt it took that long. I'd recommend waiting at least ten minutes. The bottom cap of the container has an attached piece of sandpaper. I was expecting there to be dust flying everywhere but there was none at all. I guess if you had used a much larger amount of the paste you would have a considerable amount of dust to clean up, but not with small holes in the wall. The bottle is smooth with no sort of grip but still easy to hold onto while you're sanding. Because my areas were so tiny I didn't have to sand for long. Maybe ten seconds at the most. There's really no wrong way to sand it. I sanded one area in the same upward direction and another area I alternated left and right. You can rub it flat over the wall or use the edge of it. They ended up looking and feeling the same. You only need to sand the area enough to get the excess debris off plus any little bumps. The tiny patch of sandpaper worked extremely well. Definitely good quality stuff. That's all there is to it. It's very simple and easy to do. So easy that even a child could do it. I highly recommend this product. 5 stars!

Very good product for the intended use. The incorporation of sandpaper and spatula in the body of the spackle tube is ingenious and innovative— the question of “now where did I set that thing down now” is much simpler when you only have to track down one item instead of three. Works and dries like any other 3M spackle, generally very well and at a decent speed, although I haven’t tried other brands of spackle yet so I can only compare to the color changing spackle I used before. Super easy and straightforward to use for any beginner and perfect for small hole repair, although I think this is targeted more toward thumbtack hole repair (which most places don’t care about) than holes left by removing wall anchors (which everywhere most definitely will care about). It’s still doable to use for wall anchor holes, but you’ll want to squeeze out a decent lump (or two) next to the hole before spreading with the spatula. Or get a roll of wall repair fabric (Duck brand is cheap at $5 for a 6”x25’ roll and very versatile). My only problem is that this product is really only meant for 1 time or short term use. There is no way that the intended target market is going to get close to using all of the spackle. Enough will be left over that you could conceivably use the remainder at the end of a 2nd or even a 3rd lease (depending on how many holes in the wall you make) IF the container is airtight. It very much IS NOT completely airtight, so over time, what’s in the tube starts to dry out and becomes significantly harder to use, if you can use it at all. The ease of application is so damn useful, I could see myself buying and using this again, providing that it comes with a gasket somewhere in the cap or at the neck so that I can feasibly use it again later on. Admittedly, that would make the sandpaper on the cap obsolete, since you’d use it all up early on and have to buy more, but I think the addition of a gasket would be worth it in order to expand the target market. Maybe 3M could make a refillable tube with a gasket and airtight seals in the future? I’d def pay for that; I hate the spackle buckets (same oxidation/drying out problem and annoying to use, in my opinion) Overall, this product is excellent for its intended function and perfect for those doing last minute repairs at the end of their lease. I think the design is ingenious and could be taken much further, given minor adjustments. Side note: Beginners, you may be looking for color matching but, unless you are literally only repairing thumbtack holes, you should probably get a small pot of paint from your local hardware store. There are a great many shades of white and I can almost guarantee that there’s virtually no spackle that will simply match your wall — the white of my wall is a telltale different shade from the previous coat of paint (it’s really easy to peel off the paint since the paint job is done cheap, like in most rented places). Just grab a small swatch of the paint and take it to the hardware store and they can help you find a color match or maybe even mix the paint to match the color for you (my wonderful local Ace hardware people did it for me) May you all repair with ease!
