Yes the aux sends are mono. As you've guessed, if you want stereo use 2 of them.

You can record all 16 channel live separately and remix them at a later date

Q: How does this handle condenser mics which need phantom power ?

Just turn on phantom power in the X air app for that channel.

Q: Can it work with Cubase ?

Yes, I had it hooked up to Cubase LE8 via USB and it worked well. I was recording 8 mics on a drum kit. Channels 1 and 2 were defaulted to stereo playback so I lost two potential input channels but I assumed at the time it might be possible to change this either in the Beringer settings, or within Cubase. I didn't have time to investigate though. I had more than enough channels for what I needed to do. I also think the XR18 aux outs could be used well for providing different monitor/headphone mixes if recording multiple performers in one take. When I get my new studio set up I'm planning on making it my main audio interface! Hope this helps
