Was pleasantly surprised at the efficiency of this solar powered charger. We have this on the side of the house and have had over 9000 hits in one day on the camera. The battery got down to 87% once when we have several cloudy days, but, got back up to 100 on the first mostly sunny day. With the rechargeable batteries and that many hits we were changing the battery every month and a half or so. It's been running two and 1/2 months on the solar charger.

First off everyone needs to understand that these do not store energy. They will only charge your camera when there is sun actively hitting it. You need to ensure they are pointed at a space that gets ALOT of sun. Once the sun hits it, it will actively charge the camera. If there isn't sufficient sun they will stop charging until the sun returns. I have two of them and they work as expected. Easy install and good quality materials. These are designed to sustain a full charge on the cameras. If your camera has low battery when you install these, your camera's battery might still die. For $48 don't expect this to be the same as the solar panels on your roof.

I have been using it for about a month now and it keeps the battery charged when the suns out, but when the sun goes down it drains the battery on the camera, and the camera dies so kind of pointless to have it on there my other cameras are still above 90% but this one just keeps dying and it’s the only one connected to a solar panel. Save your money definitely not worth it. I would recommend getting a different mount for the camera where it’s easy to take the camera off every couple months and charge it way better than this solar panel.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Purchased to power an Arlo Essential Camera mounted remotely from a USB power source. Works very well on sunny days and charges the camera from empty to full in an average of 6 hours. However, the Panel does not charge on cloudy days, which occur on the average of 190 days a year here. In the 2 summer months since purchase have nonetheleas been able to keep the Arlo Essential camera completely charged with the Solar Panel alone. Will provide a further review for the winter.

My situation may be a bit unique. I live in a condo, and this solar panel is supporting an Arlo Essential Spotlight camera in my carport. It took a while for the condo association to approve the placement of the panel, and I had to make it a non-permanent install. My first few attempts failed miserably - the double sided velcro tape you can see in the picture holding the cabling wasn't sufficient to keep the panel upright. However, a "strong adhesive" double sided transparent tape did the trick, with tape underneath the mouth, and over top of it a well. It hasn't moved since installed, despite some days with wicked wind. And unlike their demo photos, my panel is some distance away from the camera. As for the charging capabilities, I wasn't sure what to expect here. The camera itself was needing to be charged every month and a half or so, despite not getting a tremendous amount of motion activity. When I was finally able to wire up this panel, it didn't seem to immediately have an effect. Maybe it was less than ideal weather. Maybe the devices needed to get used to each other. Whatever the case, it took a few days before the battery level started to stablizing, and then going up and staying up. My camera now, despite some bitterly cold weather last week that had the device completely offline (too cold to operate!), is now hovering around mid-80s battery percentage. That works for me! If you're on the fence about whether your Arlo Essential Spotlight camera needs this - go for it. I've found it to be a positive investment, and I think you will too.

These have saved us from bi-weekly ladder climb. We love our Arlo Essential Spotlight cameras, but we were tired of recharging them and reconnecting them every few weeks. We have a black roof, so we really wanted black ones. These are perfect.
