Nowhere near his best
I've read several books by this author and, on the whole, they are enjoyable as long as you suspend belief. I couldn't on this one however....a plot full of holes and a "hero" hell bent on self destruction and ignoring all help. There were so many holes in the plot. Why not just have him shot in the first few chapters? That would have saved all the unnecessary complicated ways used to frame him and try to murder him throughout the rest of the novel. I finished it but it just left me frustrated....a generally unpleasant book.

Powerful Thrills, Lethal Dangers
Task: UK Special forces provide backup to US Navy Seal team thats taking out Osama Bin Laden. Sergeant Joe Mansfield witnesses both the fire fight and extraction of the body bags - job done. But not quite, it seems the Americans are pulling the wool over Army eyes. Soon after, during another operation Joe loses one of his best men - also present at the US Operation - while crossing a minefield supposedly with a safe path cleared and marked by allied soldiers. Joe suspects that the safety flags were moved but his superiors won't listen, badly affected by the death of his comrade Joe is returned to the UK for a short time. But Joe cannot relax even with his family and still sees threats all around with his guard up constantly its grating on his wife and child its as though he's still 'out there'.His sixth sense serves him well . there is indeed a threat one with its roots back in the Afghanistan, and it's all too real and all too dangerous .A cold blooded ruthless adversary will find him and carry out a blood chilling evil that will result in Joes imprisonment, the first of many obstacles Joe will have to overcome as he clears his name and fights back.High tension thrills and action pulse through this story breathlessly following Joe's efforts

Lacks a good bit of credability
This was the first book I have read by Chris Ryan and found it to start off ok but then deteriorated into something unbelievable. Does this happen on a regular basis where you have off duty Special Forces leaving dead bodies lying around? Are they all so pig headed and really don't give a damn about much in the real world? I am a female reader, like a good thriller be it military or otherwise but even I found it hard to understand why he went off and left his son with an old friend he had not seen for years, who was severely injured, then couldn't have cared less when she died. Dragged his severely traumatised son to wherever so he could have vengeance, but that I suppose is another story. Perhaps that is what a soldier does and the public don't hear about it. I know its fiction but perhaps a bit of believability wouldn't go amiss.

Osama by Chris Ryan
I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book to begin with as it got off to a bit of a slow start and I couldn't really see where it was going. However, I'm glad I persisted with it as it turned out very enjoyable. Once the story got going it was very fast paced and the story always moved forward which is what I always look for in a book. It's obviously set up for a sequel which I am looking forward to reading when it is published.Although for me it is not the best Chris Ryan book I have read, it' still a worthy read once you get past the first few chapters.

average
I have read almost all Chris Ryans books and really they are not up there with the best. He seems to get a decent storyline going but just fails in the actual writing. And you know what? So does his pal Andy McNabb, who suffers from the same problem.I am aware these two authors sell books by the bucketload but can't understand why, they should have stuck to soldiering if you ask me.Must try harder, or perhaps get a proper writer to check their completed works and inject some literary skills therein.

Gruesome story without the miraculous life saving last-second hero bits.
I would say after reading a lot of action thrillers, this is one of the most graphically violent at times. Chris is not afraid of killing off good guys... no last-second saves. It's the first from this author. I will try others.

Badly written and irritating
The characters in this book might as well be robots. They do not seem to have any feelings for other people, they have a very limited vocabulary and are utterly predictable. The most annoying person is Joe, the hero. At times I wished the baddies managed to get rid of him earlier in the book, before he causes more damage to everyone around him. DonŽt waste your time and money on this pulp.

Ok, but just a fasr gory ride
This book is interesting and one of a couple of recent novels that portrays the US Navy Seal team that went after OBL as inept and primarily counting on British on the ground resources to save the day. When things go bad, the SAS member involved ends up on the run and he isn't sure who he is running from.A good yarn and worth a read. Lot's of death and horror. However Chris Ryan doesn't develop the characters with the kind of depth where you feel like these are people you know.I had a strong three star expectation and that's what I got

Not up to his usual standard but OK
This was pretty ordinary, readable but patchy and for what it cost, even the editing was sub par. I`m being hypercritical but I expect more from Mr Ryan, His books have always been top quality and I guess that`s what I've come to expect.I don`t know if he`s started using a ghostwriter or has just started banging his books out in a hurry but I paid $18.99 AU for the kindle edition and it certainly isn`t worth the money. I`ve bought way better kindle books for under $5. So Mr Ryan, if you are going to write stuff like this, price it accordingly.

Not so sure about this book
I'm not so sure if I like this book...the suggestion that the raid which killed UBL didn't happen as reported and that the good guys aren't the good guys doesn't sit so well with me...I do realize it's fiction but it's a bit too much for me...

Good start but not so good in ending
This is the first Chris Ryan book I ever read. Very good start but poor in ending. Too many things happened in the story were not explained. Looks like a homework finished just before deadline.

"Osama" not one one of Chris Ryan's better reads.
I am afraid that as fan of Chris Ryan I was a little disappointed with Osama. Usually, with a Chris Ryan a book, I cannot put it down until I have finished it but this book just did not grab me. I found it to be just a little too far fetched and uhbelievable. Just not one of his best.
