Jiu Jitsu for All: Yellow Belt to Green Belt

An interesting read
Having bought The Shotokan Karate bible books from the same publisher I had high hope for this. However whilst it is an interesting read, the limited explanations of the techniques and lack of captions on figures make it rather less helpful.

Jitsu For All
I bought this recently to serve as a learning aide for my up and coming orange Belt grading with the Jitsu Foundation. However I did not realise that the book did not contain the recent syllabus changes and therefore its usefulness was down graded somewhat, that being said for a beginner it does help with one of the more difficult aspects of learning jitsu which is remembering the names of the techniques, which the book is very useful for.

Warm, colourful and informative
This book serves as an excellent learning aid for students studying with The Jitsu Foundation or any one of the branches of Shorinji Kan Jiu Jitsu.Rather than taking the common approach of a very dry instructional manual, this book (and indeed the series) present the techniques in a wider context of the training experience. Alongside sections explaining the the history of the art, why you might choose it, what to expect, and details of the techniques, are amusing and sometimes touching anecdotes from practitioners of the art. Especially encouraging for novices and lower grades will be the fact that these anecdotes from less experienced jiu jitsuka. The techniques are clearly present in colour photographs throughout, and explained with reference to the dojo environment and also a self-defence context. Techniques covered include breakfalling, arm locks, wrist locks, ground holds, throws and weapon defences amongst others. The book won't teach you the art alone, but it will certainly serve as an invaluable reference if you're already training with the Jitsu Foundation or perhaps inspire you to start!

Dated but still usefull
A useful intro into Jitsu techniques, it contains a lot of technical advice with some good pointers and general information. It is good addition to regular training and a nice start for some home study. As has been mentioned above this book is not up to date with recent syllabus changes, an updated version of the series would be awesome at some point.
