Ultra sharp on arrival. Well made.
I think it may well be a genuine Damascus steel blade although other reviewers seem to doubt this. Fourteen of the theoretical 33 cladding layers are visible on the blade with maybe ~15 more visible on the tang curve. Excellent value if genuine. (Blank blades sell for £20-30.) Extremely sharp on arrival. Slices through onions and peppers with almost no pressure; less than req'd for a comparison 57 Rockwell blade on a Santuko knife. Sharp enough for fish filleting I would think. Approximately half an inch longer than a normal boning knife and better suited to those of us with large hands. One tiny air bubble between the handle and the tang. Hand wash only. Only durability left to assess but happy so far. Have since purchased the 3.75" paring knife (£32) and am equally happy with that. It has a thicker blade and therefore more layers of the "Damascus" steel are visible.

Knife feels good in your hand
Knife feels good in your hand, but I don't really believe is having what usually people believe is a "damascus steel" blade. The pattern you see in the pictures are just patterns that seems like acid etched on the steel, compared to other photos of damascus steel blades, the patter looks really regular. so if you like the pattern, ok, but the pattern itself in not guarantee of a good blade. I personally don't like the faux feeling and I had liked a normal knife at this point for some less bucks.A bit disappointed by the level of sharpness: tried to cut a few small tomatos and I had to make what I believe is too much pressure on in order to cut them. in a nutshell:it is a better knife compared to the ones you can get on cheap shops? yes.it is a knife that will last forever and will not need to be sharpened often? not sure about it.Packaging is very nice, great for a gift.

Beautiful knife, design and box!
Beautiful knife, beautiful presentation and box. Thought out and looks great. Handle seems very good quality. It's a Xmas prezzie so we'll see how it performs later... But I think it'll be great!
