Item DescriptionBoasting a multitude of unmatched features, universal, invisible, none load-bearing, unexposed, storm-proof, etc., the most innovative roof vent to hit the industry since the introduction of roofing under felts.Developed for installation in most types of unsealed pitched roofs and suited to the majority of situations, providing unobtrusive roof-space ventilation for both ancient and modern buildings avoiding outside disturbance, structural alteration and the costs of excessive health & safety obligations. Compliant with UK and EU codes of practice, the 20,000mm2 free airflow capacity is tested and confirmed by Building Research Establishment trials.Made out of recycled plastics they are environmentally responsible. lapVent has been individually honoured with a prestigious Millennium Product status award - clearly designed and created with a special understanding of the slating and tiling trades. Compliance Approved Documents, European Codes and British Standards BS 5534:2003 and BS 5250:2002 specify the essential requirements for good practice. They clearly state that the indiscriminate breaching of insulation barriers in roof spaces is to be avoided. Unprotected gaps made between roofing membrane overlaps, new & old, will endanger the overall stability & weatherproof effectiveness of a roof, which will put a building at risk.lapVent permanently achieves the fundamental requirements to protect a roof against:Excessive wind load pressuresIngress of wind driven rain & snow CondensationDamp & mouldWind uplift damage, Insect & wildlife infestationInadequate free air space. FittingVents fit in the Membrane overlap. The number of vents required is determined by the size & shape of the roof. Approx 1 every 2.5m along each side. The vent can be DIY fitted in approx. 10 to 30 mins.RequirementsA minimum gap of 315mm is required between rafters.

Simple and effective.
I'm happy with this item. It's a simple solution and relatively easy to fit, the biggest difficulty being installing it in an area that allows only restricted movement - and that's no fault of the item itself. It's had an impact already on the humidity in the loft, so it works too.My original reason for buying it was to provide extra ventilation inwards to the loft as I was planning to fit a Nuaire DriMaster Heat Nuaire Drimaster With Heat - Condensation Ventilation Loft Unit and wanted a reliable stream of fresh air to enter. Since fitting the DriMaster the roof vent has also delivered. So a good product. If I had any concerns at all it was with the instructions - I didn't find them amazingly customer centred and they left me with a bit of head scratching which was mildly irritating at the time. Whilst the roof vent is easy to fit, the step by step guide assumed some knowledge I don't have as simple homeowner - an example was the section of roof felt that needs to cover the roof vent. The instructions ask you to place it weather side up, without giving any indication of what that actually is. I just had to guess. 50/50 chance, I guess.

Solved loft damp in less than a week
After 5 years of trying to resolve condensation in the loft space caused by increased insulation and bitumen felt this vent did it in less than a week. Very good product and easy to fit in less than 20 minutes.

Lapvents are the answer to a house that wants to breathe.
Fitted these in 2012, after the bad decision of having cavity wall insulation fitted in 2010, Loft in dec 2011 was completely white with mould'Fitted 3 pairs of these in a 3 bed detached, 1 low and 1 High opposite. easy to fit unless like me you have a narrow pitch roof, but thats only an access problem. Easy to fit with a normal pitch. Highly Recommended as they worked straight away, and the added bonus of their ability in strong winds to save your roof.

Very fiddly to install
I am a builder and retro fitting this in an attic was very frustrating, folding the felt was particularly fiddly, and it took me longer than I expected to install, I would rather fit an external slate vent next time, and only use this as a last resort if the roof is not accessible
