My husband was (or maybe still is ;-)) a big Dita Von Teese fan and that is where I first heard about her. Over the years I have always thought she was an intriguing person as well as very sensual. Her book is so interesting and has so much packed in it that I found really interesting.Her style is classy and sophisticated and also timeless. She takes great care of herself and it is almost unbelievable that she would entertain drinking alcohol. She talks openly about many things and one in particular was about her struggle with her skin problems. She does seem to have lovely skin but she also explains all the hard work she puts into keeping it looking so lovely. I have taken notes and have already made changes to my facial routine and one being to use moisturiser on a daily bases.She really stands out in a crowd and has her own unique style that I admire so much. One of the stories she tells is about how she went to some event and dressed down, wore a long brown wig and jeans and the photographer asked her to move out of the way so he could take pictures of other people that were there. That for me stuck out and shows that she really enjoys being unique, different and has a style all of her own.She does not copy anyone else but clearly has a style that was inspired by Marilyn Monroe. She speaks briefly about her marriage to Marilyn Manson too.I am very pleased with this book and my daughter is keen to read it too. I feel it is for all ages and her beauty tips are very helpful and practical too.

I knew the name and the image, but this book had me enraptured! From the first page you are treated to an adventure with the most glorious, glamorous woman of this age. Her insights are so beautifully presented and she gives full acknowledgement of the bygone days when glamour was the ruling style. There are motes of wisdom on each page and the photography is wonderful to be behold.I went in search of Dita's perfumes, unfortunately difficult to find on the high street, but I raved to the uninitiated about this incredible book and the originator of its premissions for existence. I hope that in my small way I might inspire others to follow the same message of individuality that Dita shows in this marvellous book.I love make up. I love using it and working with it to help others to learn to appreciate their own personal look. The main lesson that Dita gave me was not to be afraid to break the 'rules' and be an individual. I felt like a flower in the spring sunshine reading and browsing through this fabulous work and I have vowed never to be afraid to express my inner beauty just as I am.I recommend this book to anyone interested in make up and in searching for the courage to express your personal beauty.Thank you Dita x

I didn't buy this for the hair and makeup tips, but for the philosophy. I've sometimes been uncomfortable about my love of beauty and style - and about the gulf between my plain, natural self and my scrubbed-up, glammed-up alter ego, and Dita has given me courage and clarity. She is an inspiration , totally comfortable in her own skin, and committed to the creation of a beauty that others may call artificial. But Dita values artifice, and for her, beauty is an art form to be celebrated. Beauty is a way of life for her, and she is incredibly generous in her encouragement for others to follow that path. Another major plus is that she genuinely celebrates older women. You won't find any patronising advice here about toning down your look and wearing less makeup after you pass 40! Thank God! There are plentiful contributions from other experts, but make no mistake, Dita has written his book herself, in a wry, charming style. Cultural references and gorgeous photographs abound, making this sophisticated, fun book worth every penny.

I have been coveting this book for sometime and decided to buy it for myself with some Christmas gift money. I am so glad I did. What an absolutely beautiful book. Very large, lots of information and filled with stunning high quality photographs. I am a great fan of Dita von Teese and whilst I do not follow the retro look I am fascinated by how she looks after herself and how she is always presents herself so immaculately all of the time.I have not read the whole book as yet - but what I have read contains lots of information and is a book you can dip in and out of.Really happy with my purchase.

I wasn't expecting the immense inspiration and change this book brought in my life, this is an absolute must read for all those who want to stand out of the crowd, from the very first page Dita invites us to rethink how much our style is really our own or a result of us trying to fit in and look like everyone else. Not only it inspired me to view myself under a complete different light but also it instilled in me the pleasure of beauty itself, as this magical ritual of self discovery and self-love by one of the most seducing and charming women...

Lovely coffee table book. She features her inspirations and they are an interesting read along with her likes and her take on style.Why a 4 star? Because with packaging there was slight damage as the book jacket was stuck on the packaging so tearing off gently as possible still caused some damage, annoying.

Had a copy of my own and hold it to such high regard. Honestly couldn't recommend it enough. Great as a gift for someone else or just yourself. It's not just a "how to look like this" guide it's a whole Bible of beautic techniques and history exploring many different options to find your OWN confidence in yourself. Gorgeous photos. Interesting stories. 100% get this book

This must-have book is a pleasure to own and feels as though you are spending time with a friend. Dita relates everything in a fun and engaging way, encouraging you to find your own inspiration. There are gorgeous photos throughout illustrating Dita's beauty journey from teen to accomplished entrepreneur and includes several of her stylish friends' unique beauty perspectives. I have modeled and worked in the beauty industry and I attest that all the suggestions she gives here, work. Dita is very comprehensive in disclosing her beauty regimen; I highly recommend her nutrition suggestions and exercise routine. You will also find dazzling photos and descriptions of her fragrances, lingerie, high-fashion campaigns, and more! This is a must have book.

I really love this book, it has a bit of everything. There make up, exercise, style tips and really cool stories. It reminds me of an old style woman’s annual journal.

Ein wunderbares Buch mit vielen hilfreichen Schönheitstipps und Tipps für einen Retro-Stil. Es ist sehr schön aufgemacht mit zahlreichen wunderschönen Fotographien von Dita von Teese. Als würde man in einem Buch aus den 40ern/50ern blättern. Sicher ist nicht alles im Alltag umsetzbar, doch wer Freude hat an einem schönen Bildband, der hochelegant daherkommt, wird seine Freude haben.
