Buy this book!
This is an excellent book, the best I’ve found by far!I must admit to feeling quite daunted by the reading and the new addition of a metronome, but actually, I surprised myself by doing much better than expected, which is always good for the soul!I think the advice to keep, pure, off the bass reading work down to 20 minutes per day at first, is very sound advice and yet more endorsement of the quality of material and method in the Mastery book. The 1st thing that made me realise this book was different was that he has the reader jumping from the 1st few pages, ahead in to well through the book and back again, which psychologically demystifies what is to come from the book and gives a very early confidence boost to the 1st nervous steps of the student reader.A very clever bloke that Joseph Alexander!

Wow
Totally new to this game - have avoided "tadpoles on telegraph lines" like the plague now beginning to get somewhere - this book a big help with reading and associating notes on the bass. Aalthough I may have to buy a hard copy as my kindle version has a problem with page numbers

Can't fault this. Worked for me with no experience or prior knowledge of sight reading.

I works, effort is not included. Customer must supply.
Got this book in order to sight read bass music and after a couple of weeks I can read the scale of c fluently and am making progress on others. However, it does take effort. It is not a quick fix but if you follow the instructions, you will build up the skills. You need to find some examples of sheet music also to practice with separately to this book as it says.

A perfect tutorial
I have been self learning bass guitar for six months and decided that I now need to read music rather than tab to progress to next level. This book is excellent as it uses the scales to progressively develop reading, rhythm and tempo. I am very pleased that I have chosen this book from the many others out there.

A really good book to learn to read music.
Exagy what I was looking for although now the hard work starts! There are loads of pieces to play through and they are pretty random so you don't remember them meaning you can play them over and over. 2 pieces for each key.
