This is a fabulous alternative for those who want to try their own gel nail at home and leaves a durable high gloss sheen. If you can do a semi decent manicure you may as well purchase a lamp or starter kit and give gel nails a go!Starting with one hand. First Nails need prepping:- Cuticles pushed back and trimmed if needed, File the nail into shape then wipe one hand with alcohol based solution on a lint free cloth to ensure the nail is clean.Apply dehydrator to the nails on this hand and air dry.Then apply a primer or bonder in an 0 shape around the edge of the nail plate and under free edge.Apply base coat to nail, capping free edge (painting slightly under the free edge) cure 1 min uv or 30 seconds led lightApply at least 2 thin coats of colour to nails capping free edge.. cure 2 mins uv/ 1 min led for each coatApply a top coat capping free edge.. Cure 1 min uv/ 30 secs led. You will be lepft with a sticky layer so the last process is.....Using a lint free wipe per 1-2 nails soaked in alcohol solution wipe each nail and you will be left beautiful shiny hard set nails.Google youtube for more helpful tips if you have trouble! After having several gel manicures in salons I thought I would give it a go myself and chose this brand as it seemed good value for money.I went onto the shellac website for instructions on how to do a DIY gel manicure and followed the guidelines to the letter and I am so impressed with the results. I have a perfectly smooth and shiny, long lasting manicure and it looks really professional. I spent about £50 buying the lamp, top and base coats, 2 colours, prep & wipe, remover and lint fee wipes and so in 2 manicures I have covered my costs.The consistency of the base and top coats make them easy to use, not too runny or thick and if a complete novice like me can do it then anyone can!

Great products, so cheap and really do the job well. I have the exact same result as with more expensive brands.The only downside I would note is a very strong chemical smell, I mean veeeery strong so I suggest not breathing it in.Also, the base coat really sticks and can peel off layers of nail if you re not careful (I used it with Shellac)

I bought these as part of a set of home-use Gel UV nails that I wanted to start using. I also bought a Lamp, alcohol wipe, and a shade of colour. This had decent reviews, and slightly cheaper than some of the other brands.It works very well and already feel ive made a saving had I gone to the Salon just once. Due to the nature of my job I constantly wash my hands, and felt constant moistening of my nails had made then thin & they kept slicing (like onion skin layers). Im not allowed coloured nail varnish at work (or even clear for that matter!) but for the sake of my nails I went to a Salon to try Gel clear polish. As I wanted no colour, my local salon charged me £15 for clear base&top coat. I did notice my nails were able to grow a little further than normal (during the 2 weeks I had it on). Thats why I decided to buy my own kit for home - I think its perfectly doable for anyone, no need to be qualified in beauty!I have used it once at home - been on for over a week now and absolutely fine. My nails do feel stronger and are able to grow. I dont know enough about any of the products to know the genuine difference between CND, Bluesky or anything else out there, but I just tried Bluesky because it was reasonably priced with decent reviews. I just feel the bottles are a little small - but then again I have noticed most UV Gel Nail polishes tend to be - maybe because you use a small amount once every 3-4 weeks (depending on how well they last!)

BlueSky were the first base and top coat that I’d bought when I first bought a uv machine, but after 2 years I thought I should replace them. I bought a cheaper set, which although it worked was hit and miss with either shiny or Matt finish. I treated myself to another BlueSky set and once again, fab long lasting finish for half the price of a mainicure! If the new set last as long as my first set, a bargain for over 2 years! Highly recommended.
