Mesozoic Art: Dinosaurs and Other Ancient Animals in Art

Through the years I have purchased several paleoart books, one of them was not satisfactory at all, and the others are good, but this is the best in terms of variety of species, variety of artists, quality of artists (a couple of them are more decorative than anything, that's not my cup of tea, but overall amazing collection). I only wish some of the older artist like Mark Hallett, John Sibbick and John Gurche were included, maybe in a future book?

This is a gorgeous anthology with a ton of variety. This book has work from 20 different artists, and a good chunk of the pieces have been made within the past 3 years or so. Some of them are from recent discoveries, and there is commentary about the animals throughout the entire book by the editor.We have artists from all over the world, working in a variety of media, everything from acrylic to digital to risograph prints to 3D modelling. Some of the artists have a background in science, others are professional artists that happen to do a lot of paleo art.It's far more visually rich than the kinds of illustrations I remember of dinosaurs as a kid. On some level, it frustrates me that we have not seen any pop culture depictions of dinosaurs that are like this. I think this book shows that dinosaurs are far more dynamic and interesting than we thought they were in the 90s. Highly recommended to any dinosaur lover who also appreciates good art.

I know and value many of the artists in this book, but I was not prepared that the second I opened the parcel and the first page, my phone would buzz with a catastrophe alert about larger objects entering the atmosphere tomorrow. I've never experienced anything bringing the K-Pg extinction THAT close to life.

Estupendo libro, ojalá haya mesozoic II y III....

The art was spectacular, and I enjoyed reading the authors' backgrounds.
