Well made piece of kit!
This looks a great bit of kit - well made and seems plenty large enough my my large BBQ. I'm glad I took the advice of other reviewers and paid a bit extra for a large one. Haven't used it yet so only 4 stars but I'm sure it will be a great time saver and efficient too.

My secret weapon
love it! Worth every penny. Not only does it work every time easily (once you know how to use it) you save yourself the stress of getting coals lit in front of your mates. Everyone thinks you are a manly man and want to know the secret. Food tastes better (no more lighter fluid to get things going), safe to use, just light and leave it (giving you time to enjoy your bbq rather than stressing about lighting the damn thing). No instructions though.... it’s easy just load it up with briquettes and put one fire lighter on the floor, light it and sit your kettle over the top... drink beer revisit in 25 minutes. Done.

Very dangerous until modified
I informed the seller of a fault in this and they haven’t responded. When I received this item the handle was loose, both where it connected to the chimney and also the wooden bit of the handle. I tightened up the nuts in the chimney part no problem. I used an Allen key to try to tighten the hex screws that connect the wooden handle but they would not tighten. I pulled out the screws and they were actually too short to meet the thread inside the connector tubes to the chimney. Luckily I had in my garage some screws that were long enough so I fixed it. There was enough friction with the original screws and the chimney is very light weight that the chimney does not fall off the handle when lifted so people could be tempted to use it and if it fails with a load of red hot charcoal in it then it could be extremely dangerous. That all said it works very well

Amazing must have for anyone bbq'ing!
If you are thinking about getting your first chimney lighter then think no more, just buy. I first witnessed these wonders in the bbq heaven that is south africa. No self respecting Safa house is without at least 2 of these. Why you ask? What I witnessed converted me in the 10 to 15 minutes it took to turn those tough to light round briquettes into a raging inferno through the addition of nothing more than a couple of sheets from the local free paper and a match!Fill the chimney with coal, then you simply roll said paper sheets length wise and then bend the ends to meet forming a circle or doughnut shape. Stick this in the bottom of the chimney under the wire supporting the coal which has filled 4/5ths of the chimney. Then apply the match to the paper lighting it and leave it to sit on a patio slab until the coals are well alight! Once burning you lift the chimney using the wooden handle (the rest is very hot!!) and pour onto your bbq tray.Down sides: no more fun playing wannabe arsonist applying enough lighter fluid/petrol/lighter blocks/lighter gel/any other accelerant stolen from the local teenagers to burn half the neighbourhood down! Why this chimney? Wooden handle = no need for gloves to prevent 3rd degree burns!Air holes in the coal section of the chimney as well as the Base allowing lots of air in which speeds up the heating.Would I buy again? - I already have 2 and have converted a half dozen fellow bbq fans who witnessed my amazing fire starting chimneys!

This really works
This device is amazing. It lights both lump wood charcoal and briquettes in a very short time. Lumpwood takes around 15 minutes briquettes a little longer. The charcoal is ready then to start cooking straight away after it's tipped into the BBQ. The device gets, obviously, very hot and pouring it out needs a lot of care especially as sparks tend to fly off the lit charcoal. I bought the model with the sloping top, but with hindsight I think that the models with tipping handles would have been better. Either way some stout heat resisting gloves are essential. The instructions with it are very good and if followed result in excellent performance. I'm very impressed with the device and happy with my purchase.

Not my best investment
Threads of of the handle supports very loose only held on by 2 threads allow to fixing screws and wooden handle to pull out when loaded and hot.VERY DANGEROUS, I found that changing the manufacturers 6mm x 25mm screws to 6mm x 30mm solved the problem. Manufacturers should be aware of this problem or a few court cases could happen
