Meets expectations
Just received the item today. Was really excited to try it when I saw it. It was fun. My concerns from other reviews was its weight and amount of physical effort that would be required by my hands. I held it with both hands. I did not have a problem. It cut well for all the tall weeds and will help me to get the edges my manual mower can’t. It cut bunches of grass but a little less gracefully- like cutting large stacks of paper with scissors. I was also worried if the height would be tall enough. I did not have to stoop. (I am 60-65 inches tall.) I appreciate the thought that went into inventing this item. It is easy to use, not intimidating, and will be easy to clean and sharpen the blades. My only frustration is a lack of a storage case to cover the blades and securely store it in the garage. Other than that, yay to the end of landscaping machines!

Excellent pair of shears, doesn’t do well when angled
I purchased these to help trim a section of garden where the groundcover likes to over grow onto the patio. They are lightweight, durable, very sharp and cut cleanly, and overall I’m really pleased with them. They’ve sat in my deck box for a few months now with no rust. They will *not* cut woody sections, so keep that in mind - I’m also convinced that they won’t cut fingers off, so I assume they’re pretty safe. My only concern is that unless you are cutting at 90 degree angles, the scissor mechanism shuts off, which makes it a little cumbersome to get into the little nooks and crannies I need it to (and I also have to get lower to the ground), but overall, these are absolutely a good pair of shears.

Very handy, I modified one to make it 6 ft long
I have a strip of very delicate new grass I bought 2 of these, and a 1" diameter 6 ft 2024 aluminum tube and a 4mm steel rod, drilled out & removed the pop rivet from the upper trigger and the 2 from the shear end, measured a section for the pull actuating rod inside and extended it with a M4 thread coupling nut, die threaded the plain new rod for extending it, the trigger end has a barrel nut it just screws into also M4 thread, then put it back together and drilled holes for 5/32" rivets in the tube to secure the end mechanisms and now have a 6 ft version, only thing is it was a little difficult to know exactly how long to make the inside 4mm rod, I measured what I thought and then initially cut and threaded the 4mm extension rod an extra 1/2" longer than needed, then kind of measure once then cut 3 or 4 times to get it right so the blade lock functions and the blades also open all the way like before the modification. I use it in the horizontal position to reach out as far as possible while sitting down with my legs folded, eyeballing the grass height and hand 'mowing' my grass area that I don't want to walk on yet until it gets older. Works well with cutting shearing contact all along the length of the blades, a slight burr or wire edge from manufacturing I had to just lightly stone off to smoothen, but then works great, I recommend camellia oil for the blades as is used on hand plane irons, also spray some into where the blade pivots, or any other non toxic oil in case it contacts the grass at all. I also replaced the original tube on the other 3 ft one with an aluminum tube. The description says the tubes are aluminum, but they are not, they are steel. All in all very good tool, not many competitors around for this type of shears, always have found good quality from Fiskars products. Very satisfied. I would not really use it to cut anything thicker or tougher than grass blades, it's not really meant to trim shrubs in my opinion.

Review & Comparison of all 3 Fiskars Grass Shears
I purchased all 3 of Fiskars grass shears (36" Long-Handled, Power-Lever, and Swivel Blade). After using them all, here's the details after actually using them. The long-handled is a great idea and makes trimming easier. Rotating blade stays in place when used. The tips of the first one I bought wouldn't cut so I returned it for a replacement. The replacement worked better, but the blades don't stay sharp for long. The blades for both the long-handle and the swivel blade shears are thinner and don't hold up. I GIVE THE LONG-HANDLED SHEARS A RATING OF 3.5. The swivel blade grass shears had a lot of issues. As just mentioned, the blades are thin & dull quickly. The blades also would occasionally rotate while trimming instead of staying in place (this was not an issue with the long-handled version). The switch to lock the swivel blade shears is on the side rather than on the top like their other models. This switch would slide down into the locking position about every 10 clips and was a nuisance with having to keep unlocking it. I GIVE THE SWIVEL BLADE SHEARS A RATING OF 2. The power-level shears performed very well. The blades are thicker/stronger than the other models and stay sharp longer. I had no issues with these. Well made! Excellent shears! I GIVE THE POWER-LEVER SHEARS A RATING OF 5.

No assembly needed and blades are sharp.
Arrived completely assembled! Super easy to work with. Lightweight so won't tire out your arms. Blades were sharp and ready to use upon delivery. Blades angles are adjustable and lock in place. Cutter closes and locks so can be safely stored when not in use. I found I could simply hang on the wall by the handle using a towel hook, same style hook often used in a bathroom or mud room to hang a jacket on. No need for more elaborate storage set up. Or just lean it in a corner but I like hanging at easy hand height. I bought the shear with the long extended handle so I wouldn't have to get down on the ground, bend over, squat or crawl. I needed something stress free to trim dichondra between cement pavers in my greenhouse. The dichondra is very soft and cut easily. Very satisfied I am.

I have a small lawn, using the battery or electric trimmer have always been a pain for me. I zap it too close to the roots ending up with a bald lawn. Using this trimmer, relaxes me and I cut the edges of my lawn with precision. It takes a long time but I only do it once a week. I have all the time in the world as I am retired . I don’t recommend this for someone who is always in a rush to do things.
