Beware counterfeits!
I ordered a pack of turtles from Swimables early last year. They arrived in retail packaging, and worked great! I ordered again, and they're now fulfilled by a Chinese individual. Package arrived via China Post. No retail packaging. Very cheap foam. They turned dark brown within hours of going into my spa and DO NOT WORK. Completely unlike the higher quality items I got earlier. Avoid until they're fulfilled by someone else.

The shape actually helps it gather more oils
Worked perfectly. Gathered all the gunk in my hot tub and was easier to clean than my other sponges. The turtle shape, while cute, is actually really important because the "head" and "limbs" increase the surface area thus providing more ability to absorb oils and gunk than other sponges. 10 minutes with the jets on and these gathered up all the surface oils so I could have guests over and show off my shiny clear hot tub.

"Where are the turtles!?" - Michael Scott

I put this little turtle into my brand new hot ...
I put this little turtle into my brand new hot tub to soak up the oil. I leave it in all the time and haven't noticed any problems with an oily water surface. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the directions don't give any indication of how to know when to change it or if you can clean it and keep using it. I felt mine today, after 4 months of continuous use, and decided to change it because it felt just a little oily.

Works great!
Works great. Got rid of brown scum line ring simply by tossing them in the water. Every now and then I squeeze out trapped oil. Or I rinse the spongeWith dish soap for a thorough rinse. Probably will order more to have on hand. Better than using chemicals to control scum linechemicals!

Awesome Turtles.
My hot tub was starting to get slick with oil that the filter just could not remove. I added these two little turtles, thinking, "What is this sponge really gonna do?" It took a couple of days, but the oil was completely removed. I'm impressed -- and they're easy to clean and reuse!

Excellent Product
These oil absorbing turtle's works great. You will be amazed at what they absorb in body oils etc that get in the water by simply using the hot tub. We have a 450-gallon hot tub and I purchased 4 turtles which came as 2 packs of 2. I highly recommend these. Please note that the other shaped oil absorbers are made of a different material that does not work. Stick with the turtles as they really work.

They seem to sink when they are "full"
I have had a regular issue with a scum line that accumulates at the water level in my hot tub and after using this product I believe they slow down if not prevent this accumulation. The oils are floating on the surface and are not water soluble. The oil is ultimately looking for something to cling to and are more attracted to the foam turtle than the tub wall bonding to the foam first. I kept a pair in the tub and decided they were spent when they wouldn't float on the surface and began to sink (this took a little more than 3 months to occur but will obviously vary with how much oil finds its way into your tub). Once they wouldn't float they started getting stuck in the filter and suction side of the pump which could cause problems so I knew it was time for new ones and I bought them again. I don't know if they sink because of the accumulation of oil but I'm going to guess that may play a part. I am skeptical that they can actually be cleaned but if its possible it will take more than rinsing it in water. If you could remove the oil by rinsing it in water they wouldn't work. Cleaning them of the oil would likely take a detergent of some kind that you don't want in your hot tub anway. Think about how hard it is to get that scum off the wall of the hot tub and the oil is bonded even more strongly with the foam. It isn't coming out easily.
