The strands of this particular carbon fiber product are not well bonded. As a result, under relatively modest bent stress, the fibers fail and spontaneously break. Sometimes, this occurs during application and sometimes after application. I was surprised the first time I heard one snap from across the room. From what I can tell, it appears that they break in the middle and this causes the 2 separated lengths to fly apart with enough force to snap both connection points. I’ve had other, shorter lengths hold. But pieces only 5 or 6 inches long have snapped without warning, hours after being put in place. I won’t be buying from this source again as I’m using these rods in some art pieces and can’t afford to have them go bad unexpectedly

The item was not as described. It claimed to be 5mm carbon rod. What came was 3mm carob flat stock that was more flimsy then a barbecue skewer. The description talks about using it as tent pole and hardly as strong as a tooth pick. Will be returning the item it because it is not anything remotely close to its description
