I came across these fittings and the Illuma track system when they were fitted in a basement club/rec room where I worked many years ago and after that I noticed they were fitted in many commercial settings.As you might imagine the business end is extremely durable and so far the heat, steam etc in my kitchen hasn't affected the spots or several pendent lamp fittings supporting large and rather heavy opal glass dome shades (not in the same line) and so far it has all been trouble-free without even sign of cosmetic damage in close to fifteen years of daily use, far less mechanical damage.The strength - in both senses - of the system is the very robust (but not intrusive) track and the ingenious conductor rail/connector system. This allows for easy removal of the complete fitting so cleaning or bulb replacement can take place on teh ground rathr than up a ladder. While easy to remove deliberately a spring latch on each fitting positively locates the working (and load-bearing) end int eh track and ensures the correct polarity. A bonus is unlike most equivalent fittings each of this kind have an individual switch that makes it easy to turned off the specific fitting one needs to work on without switching off the whole track.While this kind of quality of design, material and execution doesn't come cheap few other eight foot tracks I know of can be removed in their entirety so a ceiling can be re-boarded then reattached a week later without any discernible ill effects. I strongly recommend this system to anyone who considers a modest added cost a reasonable investment in return for a hassle-free product with a life measured in decades.
