The picture doesn't really do this fan justice. My electrician recommended a Westinghouse fan as he says they are easy to fit & in the long run will save money with installation. Everything fits together beautifully. I put together the blades myself & the screw holes are all lined up. I watched him fit it & a great deal of thought has gone into making this fan, for example when offering this up to the ceiling there's a way that holds this on to the ceiling to allow the screws to be put in to secure it without it falling onto the floor. The remote fits into the unit perfectly. The fitting for mine took about 2 1/2 hours but this was because my light fitting had to be moved & my poor electrician had to go up into the dusty loft. I would say if you know what you're doing this should take no more than 1 1/2 hours if using the same light fitting. The bulbs needed are 3x 60watt small edison screw ones, for the remote 2 AA batteries. Note, to start this for the 1st time press '3' then the light symbol on the remote & leave your wall light switch on. You don't need a special wall light switch. The fan is guaranteed for 10 years so a no brainer has our US cousins would say!It's lovely to be able to lie in bed & not get up to switch this on/off. This is a perfect an average size bedroom. As all fans when on the fastest settings you can hear it, but it's a lot quieter than a floor fan. And a lot quieter the ones I used when on holidayWould I recommend this fan? Yes I would, no hesitation.

Before I get to the fan, I have to say something about Fastlec, the seller of this fan. After the item was dispatched I received notification of the delivery date. That date came and by the end of the day, was changed, adding 4 more days. I have to admit I was upset, as I had already taken down the previous fan that had stopped working. I contacted Fastlec. They dispatched another fan for it to arrive the next day!!! It turns out it was not even their fault, but the shipping company's. I have to say that it is rare to find customer service like this any longer. Therefore, the first thing I would say is that, if you order from Fastlec, then you can have confidence that they stand behind their product.Now to the fan. As long as you have some basic mechanical skills, then installation is not difficult. I mounted it to pre-existing ceiling mounts, added a longer down rod (sold separately), connected the wiring and assembled as shown in the instruction manual. I would note that the instruction manual is not the greatest, but again, as long as you have some basic understanding of mechanics, it is pretty simple to understand the instructions.The blades of the fan were not "white" but more of an off-white or light ivory color. This was not an issue for us, and it looks great installed. The only flaw I noticed was what looks like a small chip on one of the edges of the lamp fixtures. As long as it doesn't crack, I am not too worried about it.The fan looks great. So far it works well. Again, the huge plus for me was the seller. I really appreciate the customer service Fastlec provided.

This is a really nice product, build quality is good and has an excellent finish.The other good news is that this is very intuitive to install. I had to ignore the instructions which on reflection made the whole thing look more difficult than it actually was but the little instructional stickers on the components were more than adequate.Thankfully I was able to use the existing anchor points for the fan I was replacing (6" bolts set into the joist but these had to be trimmed to about 3" to sit in the canopy) but due to the weight this really isn't something that should be skimped on. It comes with two screws and plugs but I would advise using something more robust than these.Cost wise this seems more expensive than a lot of others on the market but it's flexibility makes it worth a look. I needed to install on an apex roof so needed options to drop the unit to gives the blades clearance so it was ideal to be able to pair it up with an extended downrod. A lot out there don't offer this.So on the whole very happy and it even made my very hard to please other half happy so that's good enough it for me!

I can't help but think that my ordering this ceiling fan is the reason for the recent unusual cold snap! This fan is lovely and I understand the weather is getting warmer again over the weekend so it will keep the room cool again! It will be good in the winter as well because you hit the reverse switch on the fan and it will circulate the warm air from your heat source in the room! There are more ceiling fans in use in homes in the U.S. and warm European countries, but at times here in the UK, the temperatures are now climbing and it is just so comfortable to be able to sit under a good ceiling fan. With high, low and off settings, you can control the air flow and it circulates the cool air in the room (or warm air in the winter). I also like that it has the light fixtures as well and the fan would replace the existing centre room light. The 3 lights on the fan provide good light in the room and there are separate chains for control of the light and the fan. The fact that it doesn't take up floor space or surface space as a portable fan would do is an additional plus.

I have fitted the second item today. The first one arrived, packed in its own box & when opened I found one of the glass shades broken, and I suspect that it had been a returned item, and not sure of the other contents. However, the return was easily organised and a replacement received quickly. This time I found it securely packed. I followed the instructions to a point but part assembled before fitting (i.e. the light fitting to the fan contains many, many wires which are difficult to locate when fitting together; especially if you are trying this in the air.Once up, the other parts are easy to assembly in situe, and loom good and works well. Very happy & the only reason for the 4 stars is the poor condition of the first item received.
