Sadly, not for me
Please bear in mind, this review is coming from an extremely picky player. I use a hybrid mousepad and aim to get absolute minimal friction. I'm an arm only player and use arm movements even for pixel wise movements.I swapped from my old logitech G pro and I sadly had to order another G pro and give this one way. I could not get used to it.Pros :-Good sensor.-Easy to configure with 0 software.-The build is okay despite what some might say.-Comes with PTFE feet.Cons :-As with most mice, it's got a weird 'ergonomic' design, making it suitable for a very specific grip. I was hoping the design would be closer to a G pro where it's kept simple and minimal allowing anyone to get their own grip. Being used to a G pro, my grip was very uncomfortable after just minutes of playing.-The switches are nowhere near as good as G pro's, much heavier despite both being omrons. The new firmware only supports 10 ms debounce. I see no reason to add more and more delay.-The cable is HORRIBLE. One of the major issues. It's like the good feet end up being cancelled out by the cable, which is so hard in fact, it adds a massive amount of drag to the mouse. Even if you get it to stay up in the air, IT WILL FEEL HORRIBLE. With a mouse bungee, the mouse would scratch against my mousepad and cause a horrible lack of control.I understand there's a tight budget but the G pro is only 10 pounds more. If you're looking for a simplistic and minimal mouse with absolute max performance, I simply cannot recommend this.

Light, simple and accurate
I bought this mouse after watching a video review by "Rocket Jump Ninja" whose opinion and likes I trust. He thought it was a great mouse but was concerned about the build quality. This black version (the first batch were white) attempted to address this issue and if my copy is representative it has been successful. The mouse is fairly small and very light at 80g. It is a little longer than my Logitech G Pro and about the same size as the Zowie FK2. My hands are fairly average at 19cm by 10cm and it feels comfortable in all the main grip styles - palm, claw and fingertip.I game at 400 dpi and prefer the ambidextrous shape of these mice as it makes them easy to lift and reposition. The sensor is the Pixart 3360 which is regarded as the best on the market and can go up to a ridiculous 12000 dpi. It tracks accurately and has no unwanted acceleration or other nasty side effects. All the buttons have short travel and are nice and light. I particularly like the scroll wheel it just feels right to me somehow. Bear in mind that although the shape of the Venator is ambidextrous in style it is not a true ambi mouse as the thumb buttons are on the left only. The mouse does not have its own software - dpi, colours and lift off distance are selected by various button combinations. I use the low LOD which is very low - under 1 CD. If you ever need to assign buttons to specific keyboard commands there is a small free program called "X-Mouse" which I use. It's not a driver but a script so has no overhead and it has always worked flawlessly for me.I have a couple of minor criticisms of the Venator. The cable is rubber not braided. For me this is a good thing as I don't like braided cables - they tend to be heavy and inflexible. This cable is reasonably flexible but not as good as the Zowies which for me represent the gold standard for rubber cables. I changed the cable on my G Pro for a Paracord cable from Ceesa but this cable is good enough when fixed in a mouse bungee. My other criticism is the feet. I've noticed a common problem with feet from smaller producers - Nixeus (although they've now fixed it I understand), Finalmouse, Xtrfy for example. The feet are made of quality teflon but the edges are cut square rather than rounded. This is fine for hard pads but on a cloth mouse pad they can catch and drag. I'm going to go through my bag of mouse feet (how sad is that!) and change them. There won't be anythhing of the same shape but that doesn't matter. I suspect the Steelseries Rival feet from Tiger Gaming will do the job fine. This isn't really a big deal as they only cost me a couple of quid. Incidentally my mouse came with the protective plastic still on the feet. You need to take this off yourself. In conclusion this is a great mouse and I'm torn whether to use it as my number one or stick with the G Pro. They are both great mice but this is £30 cheaper!

Not perfect, but a very good gaming mouse.
Yes.. it's still a bit creaky, but is does everything it's supposed to well! It's much cheaper and lighter than most of the top-end gaming mice it's challenging, so that's the acceptable compromise. The choices of components make for great usability. It's accurate. The hardware method of changing settings is a good thing in my book. It looks good. It's extremely light. The cable is very supple. Sliding pads are excellent, and you get a spare set, and i think should you need more you just get in touch with the designer. The only reasons I didnt give it 5 stars are.. I would have liked grippier surfaces this would make it more confidence inspiring in use. 100dpi increments between 400 and 800dpi would be nice if that's possible. I had to open it up and stick down the cable where it enters the front of the mouse, so that it didn't rub against the mousewheel.Note: The actual shape is really nice. The contours make it pretty easy to lift the mouse without gripping (or would with a little texture for the more sweaty-handed of us). The shape of the sides almost feels like a slight overhang, like a wedge (narrow part down), even though its pretty much straight sided at the narrowest point. It is very narrow though, and a tiny bit shorter than average. My hands aren't huge, but I'd prefer an XL version maybe 4-8mm wider and a couple of mm taller. I haven't taken marks off due to size in my overall score, that's not the designers fault.
