Pettex Roman Gravel Black Sand 8 kg

I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bag. The gravel is slightly finer than I expected but actually I prefer it. Its really clean and doesn't need more than a quick rinse. Very pretty and covers really well. Very impressed with it.

I really like this gravel, i was expecting black pebbles but was pleasantly surprised to find that this is more like course sand, it looks absolutely gorgeous. I did slightly worry that my gravel cleaner was going to suck it all up however, i have been cleaning my tank as usual and had no issues (except for a tiny amount being sucked up but nothing to worry about) thought id write this review to mention that it is gravel cleaner safe, at least mine anyway.

The sand was very nice and the aquarium looked lovely for a little while the the top layer of sand changed colour and lost the bright white I had to remove the top layer of sand to get the colour back over all good sand but would probably get a different colour than white next time.

Really nice in the tank. Although if adding it into an exciting tank, will remain cloudy for days until it settles

Looks good in my daughter’s aquarium. Nice and clean out of the bag so no washing required.

The media could not be loaded.  26/01/24 I originally bought this gravel for my 125 liter tank which is sitting on the oak cabinet.. At that time I was restarting the tank.. I used x2 8kg bags never washed the gravel, the tank didn’t have a filter but the water was clear eventually got a new filter plus heater, cycled it for a week & got new fish everything has been fine since & water stayed crystal clear, even after water changes..Got a new tank 245 liter bought x3 8kg gravel bags from this seller as the tank is big didn’t think x2 bags will be enough but x2 bags would of been fine however i used all 3 bags anyways got my fancy gold fish after a week & a half of cycling the tank, fish are doing great P.S never washed this bag of gravel either..Update to today 03/04/24 wanted a bit of change to the 245 liter so I bought x2 white gravel bags 8kg took everything out the tank mixed black & white gravel together and BOOM I think I have a nice situation going in the tank lol.. I washed the white gravel before putting it in the tank MY GOSH WHAT A WASH JOB.. After my many washes I did the mix, my tank was super cloudy.. Left my fish in a temp tank over night, the next morning the tank was less cloudy so I felt confident enough to put the fish back in the tank, fish are all doing fine and have a UV filter in it so hopefully tank should be clear by tomorrow I hope.. please see attached pics..Do what you want with your black gravel but DEFO wash your white gravel..I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY WHITE & BLACK MIX..Thanks for reading —— Have a fabulous day because you are fabulous..

GOOD SAND GOOD SERVICE

Overall it is good gravel. Nothing came off when washed.Sank it the tank fine and settled well.However it is very much not black. Is more grey then anything.A big shame as I had black gravel in already and now having to mix it all up to get some consistency.
