Tyres are expensive. It's important that tyres are safe and legal but we're not made of money.I have always mistrusted steel pen gauges as they are difficult to read and I am never sure I've got it right.This digital reader saves the uncertainty and is easy to use. Set it to millimetres/inches and position the gauge over the tyre.Push the probe into the tread so the hilt rests on the tyre surface and the probe reaches the bottom of the groove. Remove and the tread depth is easily readable on the LED display. The read stays displayed until you clear it.Move to the next groove until you've measured the tyre.I now know exactly where I am. No more worrying about tread depth, fines, safety or replacing tyres early.The gauge is well made in tough industrial plastic and uses CR2032 batteries which came fitted.

Good wee Tyre depth gauge for the tool box. As others have stated it, any slight movement and it will turn on but if stores somewhere stationary should not be a problem. As with all digital gauges it accurate to a certain point but for the Money I give it 5 stars because build quality is alright for what it is, screen/display is very clear and its accurate to a decent point as with all measuring gauges a wee bit of common sense and knowledge will go a long way.

great little gauge, when you zero the gauge be sure to press it against something flat (like a window) and push the bar out.if you pull the bar right in and zero it, the bar slightly inside the gauge and your loss 0.5mm of measurement.does not sound a lot but with legal tread being 1.8 mm, would not take a lot to think your ok and in fact be under

The actual gauge is fine and works well. The only issue I had was that I was getting a ' new ' despatch date every day ! Better to have a despatch time frame and then a delivery date.

great little tool. no chance of being on the wring side of the law with this,so easy to use. handy for the car glove box.
