This book is simply amazing. If you are interested in living well get it! I have just started doing the exercises suggested and already feel so much more relaxed and in touch with my body. Whatever she claims in the book turns out to be true. Also, there is also so much love in this book for the readers. She does not preach, or judge, neither she try to be unbearably sweet as some authors tend to be. She modestly and professionally reveals what she has discovered about the breathing and encourages us to experiment and experience it by ourselves at our own pace. Many many thanks Donna!

GREAT
Effective book giving guidance on correct breathing techniques. Sounds simple but incorrect breathing can result in panic attacks and feelings of stress. Has a lot of guidance on the breath and many exercises to follow. I am pleased with my purchase and would buy again.

Essential for any Yoga Practitioner
I found it very difficult to find a book about yogic breathing despite it being integral to yoga practise. So, when I bought this book I was happy that I found what I had been looking for. Farhi's practises and explanations are easy to understand. There are very well drawn digrams which help you to comprehend the anatomy of more subtle breathing patterns (these are not always easy to feel). This book is great for anyone who is has an asana practice. From a personal perspective I would say that this book is essential to any yoga teacher. In my experience of being a practitioner very few teachers go into any detail about breathing techniques. Farhi's techniques would be easy to integrate into a class and help students with self inquiry.

This book is my breathing bible, I absolutely love it. Although it is like a manual for breathing through the body, it doesn't feel like one. Based on personal experience and backed up with lots of scientific studies. It really is a must read 10:10 thank you!!

I guess I bought this book a few years ago, when I was dealing with some insomnia, and developing a meditation practice. I don't do much in the way of yoga, but am an avid swimmer, and stretch each day. Recently I noticed the need to combine my stretching and my breathing, using my breath to find the stretch. After more searching to find a book in that vein, I came back to the Breathing Book. This has it all: understanding your breath, using it to stretch, to grow, to meditate. I can't imagine how much work went into making this book just right. It's wonderful, nuanced, appropriate, accessible, complete. It has just the right amount of pranayama, just enough to start meditating (though I use a different method), just enough to find a good stretch, to find your "history" in your body and release it. It's good for beginners as well as more advanced students. I've read many books on the subjects of meditation and breathing. This is the go to if you want to start a practice on the breathing side. And, btw, yes, meditation and breathing practices are effective in treating insomnia and anxiety.

I am always giving this book to people I love because it’s the best book on breathing I’ve ever read. It was required reading in my yoga teacher training class so, that’s where I discovered it. The author is a nurse and explains the breath and it’s importance in an easy to understand way. She is excellent at explaining clearly how to improve awareness and improvement of breathing.
