Discover Your World in Pen, Ink & Watercolor

So many wonderful watercolor ideas. The used "very good" condition book looks like new!

I was impressed with both the descriptions of the basic beginner techniques and the more advanced detailing. The book dedicates several chapters on perspective but I most enjoyed learning techniques that put movement into the watercolors. The illustrations are large, clear and inspiring. I have many how-to-watercolor books but when I love nature and when I want to learn new techniques to bring movement to my outdoor paintings I turn to Discover Your World.

I am an artist though not sold as such, we studied art in it's many forms through out my school years and still lose myself in painting when I need to relax. This book I bought my adult son who is brilliant with a pencil, to enable him to share with his family. They were not disappointed - it is a lovely book and will allow them all to venture into water colour painting with comfort and ease.

I love having a great resource at my fingertips, and this is one of them. I love the way things are broken down into simpler steps, so that it is more understandable and therefore can be put to use easier. I always learn things better by repetition, and this book lays out plenty of practice material to make that possible. I very much enjoy it, and am happy to add it to my collection.

I love the work of Claudia Nice. She combines two of my favorite mediums. This book is great for the beginning watercolor artist to expand into pen and ink, or someone with a love of pen and ink to add watercolor to their work. This book is filled with tips and tricks that even the most seasoned artist might not have tried. I highly recommend this book or any of her books. I have her whole collection.

Another great book by Claudia Nice! Having taken several workshops with her as "teaching" artist, I was determined to collect all of her published instruction books. I was very happy to find this book offered at a very reasonable price. Claudia is an excellent instructor as well as artist and anyone wishing to improve their pen and ink drawing, and watercolor skills will find her books valuable.

I haven't applied any of the teaching in Claudia's book yet, but intend to after Christmas. However, I've looked at every page, and can tell you it's clear and thorough, very well-written. Just reading it brings me as much pleasure as I hope to get out of the learning experience. If you are a novice at pen and ink, or hoping to try something new, I would highly recommend this! I have some of her other publications, and this one is right up there in quality and usefulness.

I have most of her (Claudia Nice) books and even though some content may be repeated I always find enough new information to make my purchase worthwhile.

Lovely book - lots of different subjects and styles of illustration, with text about how to achieve the effects.There are some simple step-by-step exercises showing the watercolour layering process, and some more general chapters which don't include step-by-steps.A good general book with plenty of varied content. Also, the author's style of illustration seems achievable, even to untrained amateur learners (it feels like we might be able to produce something at least a BIT like the author's, which isn't the case with some art tuition books).I bought this and the author's other book 'Creating Textured Landscapes with Pen, Ink and Watercolor' and I'm really pleased with both. I've used them already to work through some of the exercises and try to recreate some of the pictures using the tuition given.

I am very pleased with this book. The pictures of the animals are lovely. Everything is well explained.

Wonderfully instructive. This book will help inspire you and guide you toward the production of better art. Examples are clear and well presented. Claudia Nice is a very accomplished artist! What makes this book shine is that she is also a brilliant teacher and author!I really enjoyed the book.

I sent for this book as I've used one of her other books for years just to gain ideas and tips. Nice takes you through some really good techniques that can be incorporated into your own paintings. More for the intermediary painter than the novice.

A brilliant easy to follow, interesting book for those interested in this form of artwork.
