Coffee DirectOld Brown Java Coffee Beans 908 g

An extremely nice, full-bodied, flavour coffee that's really smooth and without too much acidity - a deeper flavour than my usual Indian Monsoon Malabar - I'm smitten and just keep buying :)

One of my all time favourite coffees, I used to buy it from coffee direct but once I found it on subscribe & save I was very happy to add it to my monthly list!A deep, earthy fairly sweet coffee, no bitterness & very little acidity.

Found this coffee a little weak and a little strange in flavour.But I understand it is discontinued, hence I was interested to try it, whilst I can.

I like the taste. it's a bit unusual, but it's rich and smooth with no acidity. It suits me well.However, the beans come so oily that they stick slightly to each other and don't flow well in the hopper of my bean-to-cup machine. It means that unless I'm poking around the beans I get only half a grind's worth and a weak coffee!If you've got a separate burr grinder or the hopper on your bean to cup machine has steep sides then these are great!

Following several positives opinions both about the supplier and this particular coffee I ordered Old Brown Java. I am fan of strong coffee and coffee from Java is my favourite, so I was looking forward to this one. Unfortunately, the bag looked suspicious right from the moment of delivery - the pack was completely deflated, without any possibility of sniffing any scent through the valve.After opening it looked even worse - big drops of oil on the beans, some beans irregular or partly crushed.I tried my best and decided to give it a chance preparing a couple of pure & strong espresso in my coffee machine (DeLonghi, Eletta) but the result is just as shown in the title of my review: disgusting! The coffee has subtle but distinct taste of ... industrial oil (not sure what it really is, as I have never experienced such thing before). To be 100 % honest about this "coffee": caffeine content in beans is probably correct, because I benefitted from the proper stroke of caffeine shortly after I manage to finish the cup. However all connoisseurs of real coffee agree that it is not about caffeine only ...I want to believe that all positive reviews of coffee beans from "Coffee Direct" are genuine - perhaps it should be ordered directly from supplier not from Amazon, however I will not take a risk again as "1 kg. of disappointment" is much enough and "Coffee Direct" disappears from the list of my potential suppliers.
