Fantastic bit of kit. Had mine for 30 odd years, got loads of spares for it still in original wrappers. Best camp stove I've ever had. Even had the Tilley lamp. No need to use Colemans fuel, these stoves use the same petrol as your car does.

Spot on
My dad bought this years ago and I thought it was brilliant when we used to go camping the convenience of not needing gas bottles just sells it for me. I now have young children and want to camp with them and was going to buy one of these but my dad gifted me his as he now use a cadac gas stove. It hasn't been run for years and fired up straight away with the old fuel still in it. Well chuffed both burners work absolutely spot on and is probably the best part of 15 years old atleast . I can't really fault it in anyway aslong as looked after should have no issue with it what so ever. It has some signs of rust but that's it. I followed the instructions and was running in literally seconds. I have one of them cheap butane stoves but gas doesn't last and is now getting expensive. A litre of fuel will last hours so what £1.15 a litre and it something most people have lying about in there shed or garage. I also have an electric oven at home so thought would be handy for if we ever have a power cut aswell as using on days out.

Some concern with packaging or handling in transit
The packaging or handling in transit needs reviewing as the hasp for the lid latch was bent (easily rectified) The product was relatively easy to use but took a little getting used to. The instruction manual that came with it could have a bit more comprehensive. Otherwise very impressed with the kit.

But I agree with another reviewer that it really is like Marmite. It's either the greatest camping stove ever ...
I have used one of these for several years and I have no hesitation in giving it five stars. But I agree with another reviewer that it really is like Marmite. It's either the greatest camping stove ever built or it's a temperamental petrol bomb. The advantages are that it is well-designed and well constructed with a good balance between weight and sturdiness. It is easily strong enough to use standard cook ware rather than light camping grade ware. It is cheap to run but perhaps more importantly the wide availability of petrol and the long time for which a fill-up lasts means that it's also very convenient to run. It also has an impressive heat output and boils a kettle of water much faster than any of the several camping gas cookers have used. Those advantages are available to everyone but the disadvantages are very much dependent on your personality because there is no doubt that it is fiddly and complicated to operate. The petrol filler cap is small and you need the right size of funnel to fill it. It is awkward to fill with a standard gallon petrol can and smaller petrol-safe containers are hard to find. It has to be pumped up to pressure and when it's full to the brim with petrol it has to be pumped up fairly frequently during cooking. And of course the lighting process is quite involved. Unlike a camping gas stove where you simply light it and it's ready, you have to light this and wait for the vaporizer to heat up and it doesn't produce a hot blue flame for a minute or two. The wind baffles are useful during this early lighting phase. Then there is the non-independence of the two burners. They both run off the same vaporizer so using the second burner reduces the heat output of the primary one. The heat output is so generous that there is no issue with inadequate heat when using two burners and actually the overall setup is an advantage because clearly they have designed it with enough heat for two burners and this gives you the advantage of being able to use one burner alone with very high output. But it does mean that it takes a bit of getting used to adjusting the settings as you have to take account of how they interact with each other.Personally I love it and wouldn't use anything else, but if mechanical things don't come naturally to you it probably isn't what you're looking for.

Classic
Had mine maybe 13 years, used it loads. Brilliant, bombproof, cheap to run, compact, efficient. No gas canisters to take and refill just a few litres of unleaded from the local petrol station. Ok it isn't as easy to use as some others but I like that.

Love it. Dont turn it up too high at the start.
Bought this one as I’m fed up going looking for the right butane gas canister, so LPG can be a right pain too of your on hols and not too near a shop! You can always get petrol/gasoline – anywhere. And keep a little in an aluminium bottle. I use it for Camping, Caravan, back-woods, picnics and BBQ’s at home.But- If you do follow the instructions to the letter I found you can run into a little glitch- here’s how. Don’t run the main (Right) burner too high at the start, or a yellow flame will result. Allow enough time (2 mins) for the fuel in the vaporizer pipe which crosses over the burner to heat up. Once that is done (and the start lever re- adjusted downwards) you get a nice blue flame on both burners. Just don’t go too high at the start. It does take a few tries to master the settings but this is old-school technology and the rewards are – solid reliability, truly great heat and very low simmering. Give it 1 or 2 tries in the back-yard and you will soon master and love it.Great fun and a little quirky but loads of character and built like a tank! Not for back packing as it’s a little hefty. No quality issues at all. It’s just marvellous all round but there is a knack to using it. Great to cook dinner in the garden on a sunny evening.
