Could be better for thin tarpaulins
I was using this to punch holes for an elasticated cord on a trampoline 'spring cover'. Essentially, the bit of the cover that dangles over the edge of the trampoline is a blue tarp. I found that for the material I was punching, the eyelets did not crimp down tightly. I think that it would be more suitable for material that is slightly thicker than the (admittedly pretty flimsy) tarpaulin I was working with. Trying to apply lots of pressure to get them as tight as possible was a little frustrating, as the arms of the pliers are not long, and are not really all that 'grippy', being made of smooth metal that is curved. The eyelets tended to 'tear' unevenly, rather than forming a convincing folded-over metal crimp onto the back of the material. I think if purchasing again, I'd look around a little further with those aspects of what I needed to use the product for more in mind. I did not use the hole puncher that is integral with the pliers, but used some very effective Draper hole punch pliers, so no issue for me with the eyelets falling through.

Redefines heavy duty
Punch fell apart after 5 holes....It takes a special kind of stupid to secure a part using a roll pin that has a smaller diameter than the hole it fits in to. Apart from having to reassemble it after each hole punched it worked ok. Nice idea to incorporate the hole punch and eyelet pliers on the same item. Shame about the build quality, maybe I was unlucky.

Not strong enough for thick plastic
This works very well fixing the eyelets but wasn't sharp enough to go through the thick plastic of my portable garage. It made a dent but didn't cut through. I then bought a hole punch for the holes and used the pliers for the eyelets. Everything then worked very well.

Very poorly made.
I never write reviews but this item was so poorly made I felt I had to.- The pliers arrived with one of the locking washers lose in the packaging.- The bit where you put the eyelet (sorry I don’t know the technical name) were misaligned so the eyelets get bent rather than squashed, therefore rendering them useless. This was not linked to the broken washer and was not something I could correct.- The chrome coating on the pliers was very poor and rough. Lots of lumps and sharp bits.Overall I would not consider these heavy duty at all as they look like they would fall apart if used more than once.Mine went straight in the bin and a got a really nice pair of eyelet pliers from B&Q instead.

Well made and reliable
The tool it's self is well made and sturdy as well as easy to use. Would say anyone could use it as it doesn't require great strength to use. Comes with a handy clip to keep it closed and secure when not in use. The eyelets that come with it are of good quality, crimp cleanly and look good. We use it to make pull up material blinds.Overall a good reliable tool
