Journey as a game is an emotional experience, dripping with symbolism that can be freely and widely interpreted, in addition to offering a gameplay experience stripped of unnecessary mechanics. The soundtrack, composed by Austin Wintory, is a wondrous compliment to the game, in addition to being one of the best soundtracks in any medium.Relying primarily on harp, strings, and wind instruments, the soundtrack tracks the titular "journey" in its progress from barren desert to barren mountain, taking in the feelings each area has. You don't need to have played the game to appreciate this. The "Confluence" tracks are nice codas which act as transitional elements between each segment of the soundtrack. Standouts between these include "Threshold", "Temptations" and "Atonement". The penultimate track, "Apotheosis", is more bombastic than the other tracks, but still manages to stir the heart. The vocal theme, "I Was Born For This" sung by Lisbeth Scott, is superbly performed, and emotive in a way that's both sombre and uplifting.From a purely practical and technical perspective, this is an excellent release for the price. The music quality on the disc is equal to that from the game, but without any ambiance and so allowed to shine in all its glory. The recording is top quality, with no track skipping or sloppy transitions between pieces. The sleeve notes provide some interesting insight into Wintory and other members of the staff. It also features some stunning artwork which captures some of the atmosphere of the game.It's very seldom any soundtrack is able to evoke both sadness and elation. It's a beautiful example of symphonic composition, a blend of Western production values with Eastern styles of music-to-game interaction. This is a must-buy for anyone with half an ear for good music.

Austin Wintory has nailed this soundtrack.Journey is a gorgeous, serene video game that requires an equally as gorgeous soundtrack. One that echoes the tranquility of the game's expansive and vibrant setting. This is exactly the type of soundtrack that Mr Wintory has created. Beautifully composed, the soundtrack focuses heavily on stringed instruments such as cellos and violins, delivering a deeply emotional experience to the player.This is well worth your money, as is the game itself.

I recently played Journey at a pals house, and I cried the whole way through because the music was just so beautiful. It's rare to find music that touches your soul in such a way that you can't help but cry. I immediately went to buy the OST and it doesn't disappoint; it is honestly the best CD I have ever bought in my entire life, and I've bought a second copy for a friend who loves soundtracks as much as I do. :)

Seems to be all the pieces contained in the game. Seems to be a decent recording quality too - doesn't sound "less" than the one that comes through your TV whilst playing the game.

Much more than a mere "videogame soundtrack", as it would be dismissed by many - some of the most moving themes I have ever heard are contained therein.Track 17 (Apotheosis), in particular, is truly heart breaking. Anyone who listens through all of it and isn't moved is probably soulless.

I think many looking at this have already experienced Journey and know the wonderful music is contained there. I found the music extremely gripping, often melancholy and always moving.I certainly recommend it to those who haven't played Journey however the impact to those who have is significant as you relive those moments again.I look forward to hearing more from Austin Wintory.

amazing soundtrack. perfect to destress

My favourite soundtrack of all time on a cd, not much else to review here!

Dank einer Freundin wurde ich auf diesen famosen Videospiel-Soundtrack aufmerksam gemacht. Das Spiel kannte ich bis dato nur vom Hören/Sagen.Austin Wintory lädt uns mit dieser melancholischen Arbeit in eine ferne Welt ein... Eine Welt zum träumen, nachdenken- aber auch abschalten. Obwohl die Musik komplett mit Orchester eingespielt wurde ist diese eher ruhig und unaufdringlich gehalten. Es gibt ein zentrales Haupt-Thema welches in allerlei Variationen Track für Track zu hören ist.Was mich persönlich aber dazu bewog mir dieses Meisterstück zuzulegen war der Titelsong "I Was Born For This"... Meine Güte... Ich hatte schon längere Zeit nicht mehr so eine Gänsehaut. Gesungen wird dieses wunderschöne, wenn auch tieftraurige Lied von keiner geringern als Lisbeth Scott! Eine andere Freundin von mir nennt dieses Stück nur "Das Nostalgie-Lied"... Und ich finde damit trifft sie den Nagel auf den Kopf- denn diese Wirkung hat dieser Song ebenso bei mir... Zieht mich auch immer wieder in die Vergangenheit. Einfach wunderbar, wenn auch eben sehr traurig und wehmütig... Auch in diesem Song ist das wunderbare Main-Theme verwoben.Fazit:Eine echte Überraschung für mich! Dieser Soundtrack, und besonders dessen Schöpfer, verdienen weit mehr Aufmerksamkeit! Fantastische Musik für die ich gerne eine volle Empfehlung ausspreche!

Mit Journey haben thatgamecompany eines der schönsten Spiele geschaffen. Eigentlich spiele ich auf der PS3 eher Shooter oder RPGs, aber nachdem ich Journey gespielt habe kommen mir die anderen Spiele meist öde und unpersönlich vor. Das Spiel ist etwas besonderes und ein Grund dafür ist der wunderbare Soundtrack von Austin Wintory. Ich bekomme immer wieder eine Gänsehaut, wenn ich Chello und Geige der Anfangsmelody höre, oder das letzte Stück der CD "I was born for this" mit dem wunderschönen Gesang von Lisbeth Scott. Hachja...

Wer das Spiel liebt, wird auch die Musik darin als gelungen empfinden.Ich empfinde sie durchweg als sehr emotional - besonders, wenn sie einen durch ein Meisterwerk von Spiel begleitet hat.Es ist immer wieder schön, die Mischung aus Gesang oder Flöte wiederzuerleben, so dass man einen Teil des Zaubers des Spiels zurückholt, selbst wenn man gerade in der U-Bahn sitzt.Die Tracks tragen fast alle die Namen der einzelnen Stationen einer "Hero's Journey", also der Werdung einer Handlungsfigur zum tragenden Helden einer Geschichte.Eine nette Idee, die einen das Spiel als genau das erkennen läßt, was es in seinen puristischen Ansätzen auch nur sein möchte: Die Essenz des Spielens und Erzählens, ganz ohne pompöses Beiwerk.Danke für diese Musik...

Beautiful, moving masterpiece that not only perfectly reflects the soul-searching, introspective survey of life that is the game, but also stands completely on its own. The soundtrack alone is well-deserving of the name (I listened to it long before playing the game).

Journey ist nicht nur ein Spiel, sondern ebenso ein Kunstwerk und dementsprechend ist auch der Soundtrack alles andere, als irgendein Spielsoundtrack.Wenn man das Spiel kennt erlebt man so die intensiven emotionalen Momente auch unterwegs.

Wer das PS3-PSN-Spiel schon gespielt hat => unbedingt zulegen als instrumentales Ersatz-Kopfkino für die Zeit, in der man das Spiel nicht spilen kann.-> Wer das Spiel noch nicht gespielt hat ===> sofort spielen oder gleich 3er Edition (flow, flower, journey) von "that game company" kaufen!

Dieser Soundtrack lässt das Gefühl vom Journey-spielen sofort wieder aufleben.Aber auch für alle, die Journey nicht gespielt haben ist er ein bewegender, instrumentaler Soundtrack, den es sich lohnt zu haben.

Il cd è molto bello, è stato un regalo davvero gradito, l'unica pecca è che la copertina di plastica frontale era leggermente rotta! Il cd comunque era perfettamente integro e funzionante.

Einlegen und schon lässt sich das Spiel von Anfang bis Ende durchträumen. Die Reihenfolge der Titel entspricht dem Spielverlauf (erleichtert festgestellt).
