As all previous reviewers have stated this is an excellent book, not just for beginners
As all previous reviewers have stated this is an excellent book, not just for beginners, but up to and including experienced woodworkers alike, everybody can learn something from this book.Clearly laid out in a logical manner with easy to follow examples, and excellent photography. Starting with the choice of timber, hand tools and their maintenance, and how to sharpen chisels and plane blades. The use of hand and electric tools, including the router. The main section, deals with how to cut the most common joints used in woodworking. Highly detailed with step by step procedures to produce the perfect joint, if you fail there is a clinic section covering the most common errors, and how to correct them. Further sections deal with Veneering and Finishing. It is clear that Chris Tribe, is a highly skilled woodworker, but the best part is his ability to impart his knowledge in an easy to understand mannerThis book comes highly recommended for anyone who is serious about improving their knowledge and skills in woodworking. Buy it, you won't be disappointed!!

Lots of detailed information.
The book is written with lots of thoughts on the practical skills to shaping a piece of stuff, generous detail on keeping tools in order, clean and working correctly. Its an easy textbook to under stand lots of tips and pointers, if you need then, to fix various snags encounter on the way. There are some projects to attempt and if you can, to have a go at. The book for me sits in-between the experienced beginner and the craftsman.

It does more than it says in the title
Having just purchased Complete Woodworking Chris Tribe should be so proud of what he has put together. It’s like being on a course with him, answering every little question and resolving every little issue we all come across, particularly when we are not in the workshop every day.I like the clarity, excellent photographs (the two Phil’s should take a bow) and the step by step instructions. Then we have the tips to try and the clinic to sort out problems.Complete Woodworking takes pride of place on my bookshelf. I think I’ll buy a second copy for the workshop where I won’t worry about dirty hands and grubby fingers.Well done that man – not just a teacher – an inspiration.

It is really nicely produced, well thought through and clearly written
This is a really impressive book. It is really nicely produced, well thought through and clearly written. It covers all of the key issues in a logical and comprehensive way - and in every case it offers a level of detail and practicality that is quite unique. Every section is packed with practical insights and how to guides that are clearly based on years of experience and a real ability to communicate and explain the details. Every section also includes a 'clinic' section to help you to address common challenges and improve. It is by far the best presented and most useful book I’ve seen…

Bags of useful tips
Great value for money, first tip I read basically saved me £15 on project costs so it paid for itself

I've found this book to be an excellent reference, with clear descriptions accompanying some outstanding photography. I'm particularly impressed by the "clinic" and "try this" sections which describe solving some common problems and give suggestions of alternative techniques. The book covers both hand and power tool use, and includes chapters on wood finishing and some projects to tackle.Like at least one other reviewer I've had the opportunity to be taught by Chris, and this book is like having detailed course notes - as such I highly recommend it!

My only woodworking reference
I bought this book because I was attending one of Chris' courses (highly recommended). The content is comprehensive and practical using actual case studies to demonstrate not only hand tool working but also machine usage (the router in particular).Chris covers a numbers of useful shop built jigs.Especially useful for someone of my limited experience are the useful tips and problem solving techniquesI can't see me needing to buy another general woodworking book for some time

Excellent intro to woodwork
It's probably too simple if you've ever done any carpentry but it's a very well written book for beginners. It covers many basic skills for those who never had any proper training.
