Style over substance
It looks beautiful. McQueen and Dunaway wear an extensive wardrobe of stylish clothes and hang out in cool places, and it has an interesting central idea: a clever but bored millionaire organises a bank heist to see if he can get away with it. But then it gets silly, with Dunaway's character supposedly bringing Crown to justice but actually just trying to bed him, while an understandably aggravated policeman sees his case going nowhere. It's a bit of a moral vacuum, this film - Crown is a crook who doesn't mind hurting people, Vicky Anderson is a vain playgirl who chases people like Crown for the money and the kicks rather than because he's a criminal who's stolen from her firm. Dunaway is at least charming, lively and occasionallly erotic, but McQueen just isn't very good - or not until Dunaway turns up, anyway. Once he has someone to work with he becomes watchable...check out his icy repose when she gets him to the police station. There's a valid alternative view of all this. It stays shallow and romantic and doesn't bother with being plausible because it's too busy having fun in dune buggies and looking good. If that's what you're after, then fine - this is a high-bred slice of Sixties style. Just don't expect too much substance.

Fabulous McQueen and Dunaway
Iconic movie from the 1960's.Stylish romantic drama with Faye Dunaway playing the insurance company's sleuth on the trail of Millionaire Tommy Crown (Steve McQueen) after a bank heist.Determined not to fall in love with him...... Good luck with that!!It is amazing how fashionable this movie still is despite being 50 years old.Great music and cinematography which has been much copied ever since.

Classic 60's film.
Steve McQueen play's against type as a rich successful and self made business man who gets his kicks by arranging a bank robbery. He is then stalked by insurance investigator Faye Dunaway who is determined to see him brought to justice for the crime. If you enjoy anything related to the 1960's you will like this film. From the cool suits and dress fashions of the time, to the split screen action which is best watched on as larger screen as possible.Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway are about as cool and stylish as you can get and filmed around Boston at it's best.

I preferred the later version....with Pierce Bronson....
Yeah! its OK. Films do date.....how ever well you remember them. This is really dated....in parts good dated.....but in other areas......Ooooowah! No! Dated! I saw the Pierce Bronson Version with Rene Russo first and I really enjoyed that. I enjoy watching Steve McQueen (the actor not the director/artist) don't get me wrong but this version at £5.99 don't bother.....wait until you can watch it for free!

Very nineteen sixties
Delivered faster than advertised. Recording is good quality.Steve McQueen is as cool as ever but the film is very nineteen sixties and as such is quiet dated. Overall the Pierce Brosnan remake in the late nineteen ninety’s is the more watchable film.

Super Show
For those of you who like sixties (1968) movies then this is one of the greatest. Obviously has the attire ,decor and surroundings of that era but a wonderful film. McQueen at his best. Coolest guy there was in films. This film epitomises how cool he was. Everbody wants to be Tommy Crown. There is no doubt. Fay Dunaway is brilliant also creating the cat and mouse game that they play. The theme song is one of the best to come from that era. One of my top 5.

Steve McQueen at his best
Hadnt seen this. Had seen Pierce Brosnan and Renne Rousseau more recent version which is one of my favourite films. Was never much of Steve McQueen fan, but am now. This was refreshing and even better than the remake.Must see!

The best version of this story
Great cinematography and editing, superb soundtrack by Michel Legrand and iconic moments of kitsch to boot. What is not to like here? This film mixes mainstream studio stars with influential multi-screen story telling to create a thriller with a ludicrous romantic sub-plot. It is a great piece of 1960s cinema though.
