High society and low blows are back as Gossip Girl continues for its much-anticipated fourth season. Last season ended with a bang as a heartbroken Chuck lay bleeding in the streets of Prague while Blair and a newly single Serena jetted off to Paris for a fabulous summer abroad. Meanwhile, Nate, fresh off his painful breakup with Serena, decided to take a page out of Chuck's playboy playbook just as Dan discovered he was going to have to settle down and be a father Special FeaturesBisoux a Paris!Deleted ScenesThe Making of An Episode: The Kid Stays in the Picture

Back On Track - But Chuck, Blair and Dan Steal The Show
*Contains Spoilers*After a season which grew progressively darker and culminated in Chuck getting shot and lying bleeding on the street, I was not sure what to expect from Season 4. However, I am happy to report that this is a much better season than the previous one. I think this is due to several factors: a move away from the college scene for the most part, a tone which is less dark and more cohesive; but mostly due to 2 major relationships which defines Season 4, and has a life-changing effect on two characters in particular. The first half of the season focuses on new girl Juliet's mysterious vendetta against Serena, Chuck and Blair's love/hate relationship and attempt at reconciliation, and the love triangle/rectangle between Nate, Serena, Dan and Vanessa. The story with Juliet isn't what we're led to believe it is, and in fact leads to a much bigger story about a secret in Serena's past at boarding school involving a teacher. As much as I enjoyed Chuck and Blair's interaction, after a while I began to wonder if they were in danger of becoming a bit stale after 3 years. About a quarter of the season in, I felt I'd seen every aspect of their relationship. But don't worry, C/B fans still have much to enjoy this season. The second half of the season centres on Chuck struggling to save Bass Industries, and discovering a shocking secret of his father's. It also features Serena's new relationship with Ben. However, it is the development of Dan and Blair's unnamed friendship which really invigorates the show. 'OC' fans have labelled Dan and Blair the new Seth and Summer, but I think they have more in common with Joey and Pacey from 'Dawson's Creek.' It's a pairing which has proved to be a divisive issue among some viewers, but as a fan of Chuck and Blair, I have to say that I love Dan and Blair. The writers take a lot of time and care into building their friendship, and it soon becomes apparent that this is for a reason, and not merely a tactic to get Blair back together with Chuck. Arguably the most interesting thing to happen to 'Gossip Girl' in years, Blair and Dan showcase what the writers do best when done right: relationships. However, I felt rather let down with the way the story arc fizzled out without any explanation, and it didn't make much sense when the writers had taken a good number of episodes building up to it. The question is: when the finale apparently waves goodbye to a 'Chair' endgame, have we really seen the last of Dan/Blair? I'm sure we'll see a continuation of their story in Season 5. Season 4 isn't a perfect season by any means, and it does take a few episodes to get into, but it is a great improvement on Season 3. Its strengths out-weigh its flaws on the whole. I almost didn't buy Season 3 because it got too dark for me, but I will definitely be buying this one.

IT ROCKS......I AM ADDICTTED TO GOSSIP GIRL AND THINK IT AN EXCELLENT WAY TO FORGET YOUR TROUBLES AND LOSE YOURSELF IN THE FANTASTY OF THE UPPER EAST SIDE AND NOT FORGETTING BROOKLYN. GOOD BALANCE OF LAUGHTER, TENSE MOMENTS AND I FIND MYSELF WANTING TO SHAKE SOME CHARACTERS (YES I KNOW THEY ARE NOT REAL LOL) WHEN THE BRILLIANT STORYLINES TAKE A DETOUR FROM WHAT I AM HOPING FOR, BUT IT ALWAYS ENDS UP BETTER THAN I EXPECTED. A MUST SEE FOR BUT DEFINETLY NEED TO WATCH THE PREVIOUS ONES TO GET THE FULL EFFECT.

Not bad....
The first half of season 4 is actually a lot stronger than many viewers give it credit for. The Paris episodes are a great way to launch the season, and it feels like there's a concentrated effort to correct what viewers were complaining about in season 3 such as lack of Serena/Blair scenes (they get one in nearly every episode of season 4), better fashion (Blair starts dressing in a much less boring way than the middle-aged woman they were portraying her as in many season 3 episodes), and the show having turned Chuck and Blair into a boring couple with no spark (they get much sexier moments this season, including hate sex). The problem is with the second half which is pretty much build around Chuck's business empire, which frankly no one watches the show to see. The more interesting Dair and Blair friendship scenes brought new life to the show for a while there, the actors have a lovely sparkly chemistry, but then they seemed to get dropped post-haste for Blair/Prince and Blair/Chuck (who lost most of the chemistry by the finale episode to be honest, the sex scene just did not have that old wow factor and the writers should have taken the opportunity with Dan/Blair to move on from them and do something new). And Serena seemed to be almost forgotten about when she was put aside for a boring B-plot with Ben, played by an actor with no charisma and no real point to being on the show. Jenny was missing, Nate was only used to prop up the GUEST STAR Raina with no storyline of his own, Vanessa only seemed to be brought back to act as an embarassing plot point, and the Blair/Dan scenes were firmly C-plot and getting about five minutes of screentime in the majority of episodes. Even Lily's arrest fizzled out to nothing with the dramatic moment of her turning herself in just leading to the very downplayed revelation that she is now on house arrest, while Rufus was treated as a joke most of the timeSo the only plot to carry the second half was the business one with Chuck and Russell. And it was BORING. Season 5 must do better. For a start the writers could focus on all the characters, not just the one that they think is the most popular. Frankly the actor playing Chuck seems to be phoning it in a lot of the time, the way he whispers every single line drives me crazy and he did not use to be even a tenth as annoying, so I wonder if he's getting as frustrated as I am with his character being expected to carry the entire second half of the season? (Unless you seriously count Serena/Ben as A-plot I suppose). I really think the fairest thing is to share storylines with all of the cast and bring it back to being an emsemble show. Not the Chuck Bass show

Gossip Girl Getting better
I didnt manage to catch it all on TV and I think its one of the few tv shows getting better with time, maybe its because the characters are older but I found this season very gripping!
