Inspirational!
This book had been on my 'want list' for ages but I had never seen in 'in the flesh' so to speak, and hadn't got around to taking the plunge. Then I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to attend a talk by Gwen Hedley, which she illustrated with slides taken from her book - the work of other artists as well as her own. The talk was fascinating and the work inspirational. The book shifted immediately to the top of my 'must have' list and I bought it right away. I'm so glad I did! I read it from cover to cover and then keep dipping back into it. Don't worry if you think you can't draw. Don't worry if you don't embroider or stitch. This book will help you with any creative process, no matter where you are starting out from. I love it, and I hope you will buy it and enjoy it just as much as I do!

Inspirational and Practical
This is the exact type of art/craft book I seek, and rarely find. One that is much more than a coffee table book of inspirational photographs. While it includes those, it's focus is on drawing, line and mark making, and translating that to mixed media or textile. It's for the artist who already has the basics down. It's not a beginner's instructional book. Rather, it's for those ready to make some explorations and push their work further, or in a different direction. For me, as a mixed media artist, it supported my interest in line and mark, and, eventually, inspired me to explore line making with thread.I suggest it's for those with an interest in abstract works, and flick through it to check it includes styles that inspire you.

Nice but
I bought this book largely for the cover illustration. There are many interesting illustrations showing both a photo of the subject, drawings and the finished stitched piece. It has left me wanting to try many of the techniques but the book doesn't really tell you how to get started on them. I probably won't do many of them since I would need to find the appropriate 'how to' book first. So for me it is inspiring but ....little help in getting started.

Delightful book
Really pleased with this book! It is excitingly illustrated and has helpful incites as to how to achieve these processes so not a coffee table book nor overly technical. Very enticing to anyone who loves drawing /textiles/surface design both for the novice and art student but especially for those who can't get started on a project. Wish I had bought this sooner.

Interessant, weckt Kreativität
Grandiose Ideen und Anregungen. Sehr interessant.

Meraviglioso!!!
Super contenta dell'acquisto.
