Beautiful book
So pleased with the layout and photographs of the recipes. The ingredients needed are easily obtainable if you don’t already have them in the cupboard. It’s a beautiful book and one I shall enjoy using. Recommend.

Really Lovely Cookbook
I've been vegan for most of my life, and I'm a fairly good cook. But I wanted to find out more about macrobiotic eating, so on the strength of the positive reviews, I bought this book a few days ago, and haven't bothered with any of my other cookery books since then. The recipes are simple, but tasty, and are a reminder that good, fresh, wholesome food is delicious without being messed about with. The recipe for almond and nori crunch is, alone, worth the price of the book. I'm feeling satisfied but not heavy after eating, and I'm also finding I don't waste food, as leftovers from one recipe - say, fried rice - can be rolled over into another - the barley salad, for example - so I'm eating something new and different every day.

I love this cookbook! I have been a vegan for many years and have several cookbooks at home, all of them which I use a lot, but this book is different. Many surprising, healthy, but most of all delicious recipes. I never knew almond paste could make a great seitan stroganoff! I have been trying out new recipes every week now. I had been watching my carbs, but for some reason with these recipes carbs is not a problem, I now eat more rice, noodles and pearl barley (love it!) than before and have actually lost weight. Maybe because the dinners from this cookbook eliminate my desire for sweets afterwards. If you have been cooking from scratch like me, then you won't mind cooking 30 - 45 min every night to make a meal. If you are used to quick meals, then some of these recipes will take a bit more planning, but once you've got the hang of it, it's pretty easy. The recipes are not complicated, but since it's macrobiotic, wholegrain rice is used for example, which has a longer cooking time than white rice. However, I do 'improvise' with whatever I have in my pantry and make it my own recipe. So far, have not had a failure yet.I highly recommend trying it out!

Great cook book with great recipes, tips, facts etc. Most recipes are very simple. The photos throughout are great.

This book is inspiring and has given me a new lease on life as a cook. I've needed and longed for this book ever since I first practiced macrobiotics in the 1980's. This is a great overview. It covers all the main food types and seasons, and its ingredients are mainstream macrobiotics (unlike many other so-called macrobiotic cookbooks, which while interesting and lovely, sometimes include ingredients that are not for everyone). The photos are illuminating. I've tried several of the recipes so far--they are delicious, and with easy-to-follow instructions.It is organized by dish type, such as grains, soups, sauces, drinks, etc.I am keeping this right in the kitchen. It is small enough to keep handy for quick reference, and thorough enough to be the only book in the kitchen. And I think it will be easy to modify these recipes to incorporate a wide variety of vegetables and grains.

Great Macrobiotic Recipes and Beautiful Photos
Beginning a strict macrobiotic diet, I turned to this cookbook and have not been disappointed. All the recipes are delicious, some take more time than others, but all are worthwhile and give you an understanding of what it means to live and eat on macrobiotic principles. The photos, by the author, make you want to start cooking immediately! Highly recommended not only for those wishing to eat macrobiotically but vegans as well. I have bought several copies for my doctors as after a decade of blood pressure medicine, my bp is now normal after following the recommended diet.

Beautiful book, beautiful food
Love the book. Great photos of the recipes. Recipes may look elaborate but are mostly pretty simple. I'm a vegan, plant-based macrobiotic dieter, and cert. counselor, and am very happy I purchased this book.
