Dancing the Dream: The Seven Sacred Paths Of Human Transformation

I purchased this book some time back and read only the first few chapters before I put it down and went on to something else. Shortly thereafter, I loaned the book to a friend. I realized after reading a few chapters the book was going to be very deep, and really thought the person I loaned it to wouldn't enjoy it at all. I was wrong. She returned the book and told me she loved it. This inspired me to sit down with the book again and stay with it until I had finished it. I probably wouldn't advise anyone to read this book unless they did read it through. The writing is good, but very deep and required your concentration into what the author was telling you. I'm a collector of Will Rogers books and after reading this, I could almost understand why Will Rogers was the kind of person he portrayed. Being of Cherokee decent myself, this brought my interest to this type of book. I've been studying the history of the Cherokee tribe and I do believe reading Jamie Sams book has helped me a great deal. This is not an ordinary book for someone just looking for a good read, but it is an excellent book on exactly what Ms. Sams has written about, Dancing the Dream....the seven sacred paths of human transformation. I recommend this to anyone searching Native American culture. But more than that, I think the Cherokee people had much to tell us, and still do, if only we would read what they write and open our minds to what they say. Jamie Sams has made a great contribution to our generation in the writing of this book.

This book expanded my spirituality to a new level and new understanding. I am not Native American and Ms. Sams speaks in language that I can understand as a white person seeking to understand the Native American spirituality that I've so deeply connected with. I understand the criticism of others who state that her writings are not "authentic", but to me, that's just a form of spiritual snobbery. Sometimes the "authentic" writings are written in lingo that I just can't grasp, like when I try reading "authentic" writings about Buddhism.The fact of the matter is that this book is written in a way that I can truly understand, grasp, and APPLY in my daily life. As a spiritual seeker who is also quickly passing through middle age toward the end of my life span, I dearly want to find a way of life that will make me a better person - someone who is a bright spot in the lives of others, and someone who leaves a kind and compassionate "footprint" on the face of the Earth that I will soon be leaving. This book has helped me to make great strides on my journey."Authentic" or not, the message has touched me deeply and helped me to continue on my path. Isn't that what most spiritual seekers are looking for, the MESSAGE more so than the messenger?

When I first stepped on the spiritual path I had a dream. In the dream I heard of voice that said "On this path there are lessons, and you have to learn the lessons to move forward" Man that burned me, I was young and wanted to get out of all the hard work of learning lessons, and making changes. I wanted the "easy" way. So I ditched the lessons and went the easy way.Finally when I got tired of taking the easy route in life, I asked for guidance, and this book entered my life. Dancing the Dream has helped me to see the years of life lessons I was not acknowledging and taking responsibility for and the resulting creations in my life. One of the things I love about the the Author is how she describes the pitfalls on the spiritual path through coyotes trickery. The traps I recognize all to well because I walked through so many of them. Coyote dogged me on my path,and i'm grateful for it because at least now I can understand what he has trying to teach me all these years.Having this book is like having an Elder with you when ever you need them, well not exactly but close! Truly inspiring. I hope others find it as helpful as I have.

This book is a true friend.And for me was best read methodically from begining to end... savoring each page.I have an extensive library of what I have experienced as meaningful personal reference books; this one is the most used and was and has been the most important one. Ms. Sams articulates the journey through maturity and lights the way. The book is a descriptive breakdown of growth, evolution, illumination and transformation.If you are looking for a description of the path you have been on all along, if you are hoping to find validation in what can be a lonely and overwhelming journey and if you love wisdom, diligence, humility, true growth and timeless truth... get this book.If you are looking for fluffy New Age "rah rah" messages of a quicky "name it, claim it, frame it" consistency there are plenty of those books elsewhere. This is not one of them.If you are looking for a book that feels like a detailed, personal, profound teaching from a beloved friend and fellow traveller; this is the one you haven't read yet. I will be referring back to this book for the rest of my journey here on Earth... it is that rare, profound, meaningful and helpful.I am deeply grateful to Ms. Sams for all that she endured, persisted in and labored over to freely share her wisdom. I have been honored and blessed by her writing.

I read this book several years ago and was stimulated by it and my imagination was stretched in doing so but I wasn't ready to assimilate so much of it. Several years later I had a hankering to read it again and wow! So much of what I read in the book would help me deal with a situation I was in at the time. I would read it in small snippets in order to digest things and let them sink in and the book is organized in sections that allow for that. It is clarifying and mind expanding. The best thing about it is it doesn't claim to be the ultimate authority on any subject and encourages the reader to find their own way while mapping out levels of consciousness and and stages of evolution that may help a reader to know where they are on the map at any given moment. It's a great read and encourages humor, flexibility, non-judgement of self and others and reminds us that life is eternal and evolution continuous. Great read!

Great book

Its been my guide for so long now, its simple and clear with no strong storyline of forced belief, but self empowering and still stands the test of time as i feel its truth speaks for itself and the author wrote it both with experience and with heart.This is the best book i ever bought, in fact i bought 2 of them, my first ones rather battered now, and this is book is out of print, but if you can get it, then do, for this is one book i will never throw out or give away.Many thanks to the Author Jamie Sams, for one of the best, if not the best new age book written in the last 2 decades, that stands as true now as it has always been, for the ancient ways and wisdom was not ever taught by those who had not already walked it, and as you read this book, you cant get away from the fact she has walked each step herself and knows, not just talks about it.Brilliant book, and Author!

This is one of the best and most important books of its kind ever written, and the best I have ever read. If you are looking for deep answers and want to move on and up in your journey in life then this is the book for you. I'd give this six stars if I could. As with most profound and deep knowledge , this is not easy to accept, but this is the price of self development and healing. If you are stuck and want to get unstuck try this as it helped me with some big issues and obstacles. Thanks Jamie.

I found I was experiencing this book in physical life and also in dream life; it stayed with me and continues to stay with me throughout every moment of my life.Sams has such a unique manner of conveying the wisdom - which has been passed down to her from teachers, spirit, and through her own life-path experiences - that is accessible for anybody.This book truly does serve as a bible for anybody who wishes to reach their full spiritual potential in life; the kind of book that you can finish reading and always go back to re-read a few pages. These pages one will find contain the perfect message or teaching of wisdom necessary for their day ahead.Totally magical....

I love Jamie Samms. I have other pieces of her wisdom - this can be used as a reference book. We are all in the same dance,the one great circle - the simple connection within & around us made complex, puzzling, a labyrinthine conundrum!!! Unravel the string that is your path & weave a sacred dance.

This book is a great book for anyone that is on a spiritual path. There is a lot of depth to it, and an awful lot of substance in the author, Jamie Sams. The book is written in a very 'easy to read' format. My only criticism is the size of the text on the pages - it is very small. I think I am only criticizing it due to the fact that it highlighted my need to evaluate the prospect of having to get spectacles :) :) :)
