Love this pillow
Pillows are always a subjective experience and what works for some won't work at all for others. I've been on a quest for the perfect pillow for decades and always coming up short.Until now. Well, I can't quite call the pillow perfect-perfect, but so far it is waaaaaay better than any I've tried before. This includes down and fiber fill pillows (quickly get squishy and make my allergies act up). Memory foam and crumbled memory foam (too hard, too lumpy, respectively, and both too warm, plus they get squishy when warm). Even one pillow that's supposed to be filled with water (heavy as a rock, tore pillow cases, and by morning it'd be so warm my head baked). The Z Gel-Infused dough memory foam pillow addressed just about all of my previous pillow complaints. I'm a side sleeper, so I not only need a high-loft pillow, I need one that *stays* high loft. I hate pillows that trap heat, and this one feels amazing all night long. I worried that the gel inset patterns on both sides would cause me trouble, but they don't. Middle of the night, I flip the pillow over and it's blessedly cool again. And so far, after using it for about a month, I've noticed I'm sleeping way better and the pillow itself isn't deforming or losing its loft.I did try the pillow without its fabric cover a few nights and found it was a little too cool that way to start, plus it did seem to warm up noticeably faster (meaning more sleep-time pillow flips). With the cover, it's a less intense coolness, but lasts longer. (Yay for the laws of thermodynamics.)My only complaint was there was a noticeable and somewhat unpleasant smell for a while, despite days of airing it out. Eventually I bought a spray bottle of Febreze and it made a big difference on both this and a smaller travel pillow from the same company for use between my knees. (I'm an older gal, hence the heat sensitivity and need to accommodate wonky hip joints.) Aside from the smell problem, which would almost have caused me to deduct a star, the pillow itself is finally exactly what I've been looking for. I would indeed buy again, and am thinking about buying another one for our guest bedroom (aka 'the snoring room'), so I don't have to keep dragging this one along with me.Pros: High loft that stays high loft all night long, even after using the pillow a month. *For me*, it's been the perfect combination of softness, squishiness, and firmness. Absolutely love the coolness -- and seriously, if you need a more intense 'cool' feeling, ditch the cover and just use a pillow case.Cons: Chemical smell, took a very long time to dissipate and only after the Febreze treatment. Heavier pillow than some might prefer. Some might also find it too firm for their tastes. Fairly expensive for a single pillow.Would I buy this again? Absolutely. But again, I recognize that liking or disliking a pillow is bound to be a subjective assessment. One thing I might recommend is to try the Malouf travel pillow ( Z Gel-Infused Dough Memory Foam Pillow With Double Z-Gel Liquid Gel Packets - 5-year Warranty - Travel ) and see if you like that. While I was still letting it air out, the travel pillow made for a pretty nice recliner-chair pillow.

Might take some time to get used to but I think this is in the upper echelon tier for memory foam pillows
I think this is a fairly new product, I took a chance on it with only 5 reviews on it at the time I ordered it. I've tried a handful of cheaper memory foam pillows, but none of them have done it for me. I'm a side sleeper, and on the pillows I tried they were either too shallow (not enough height/loft), too firm, and/or ran hot. I've recently ordered other Malouf products (Encase mattress cover and pillow protectors) that I was happy with, so this product felt like a fair bet, even though it is expensive for a pillow. Some background, I was a little rough on my body in my younger years playing sports and suffer from a bad lower back, and a recent car accident didn't help matters. I feel like the height of this pillow does a good job of aligning my spine when I sleep on my side (6' 225 lbs). I also "run hot", so products that build and retain heat don't help. In the week or so I've had it, I notice I'm not awaking and turning or shifting around in bed nearly as much, and my girlfriend confirmed the same thing. The gel does a great job of keeping the pillow cool, even with the Malouf pillow protector on it. I have never used the included pillow cover, although I must say it is very soft but I can't speak to how it feels to sleep on. I will probably use it in a guest room or something. I also suffer from terrible allergies, along with a new gel memory foam mattress and the Malouf protectors, I wake up clear instead of my eyes scratchy and terribly congested.Every so often I will get a whiff of it, but not all the time and it doesn't bother me. It took me a few nights to get used to it, as it is much different feeling from a traditional down or down alternative pillow. Traditional pillows will heavily compress and this are much softer but don't usually provide this kind of support. I'd still consider this pillow on the firm side, but it's got enough give and softness that made it easy for me to get used to. Before I'd sleep with my arm tucked under the pillow, and I'd normally awake to my arm being sore. With this pillow I no longer need to do that, and no longer have the arm pain that went along with it. I do not think this pillow could work for a stomach sleeper, but side or back should be a good fit.Last couple points. This pillow is heavy. Really heavy. It seems to be very well made, and along with the protector I bet it will last a very long time (3+ years would not at all surprise me, I'd bet it will actually far surpass that). This potentially negates it's high initial purchase price, compared with a tradional pillow that we normally pick up for around $10 that will maybe last 3-6 months tops before it's relegated to leg pillow status. I also like that the gel is on both sides on this model, which always gives you the option of flipping it over if you wanted to.I'll continue to update this review as I spend more time with it, but so far it's a success and my girlfriend has requested one as well. Bittersweet however, since immediately after purchase the price went up $5 ($75 -> $80). I would still recommend it at it's current price, and will probably pay it to get one for my girlfriend.7/7/14 UPDATE:My girlfriend napped on it and decided she wanted one as well so I purchased another at the new $80 price. It took her a few nights to get used to it, and complained of slight neck pain for those first few nights. Since then she has slept great on it. She used to stack multiple convention pillows, which from my reading is not good for proper alignment. As for me, the pillow continues to get better with use, offering just a little bit more give than fresh out of the box. I think this thing at 6 months is just going to be getting into it's prime. I love being able to flip this, I usually give it a turn just before going to sleep, but never during the night. I used to constantly flip conventional pillows. The only negative I can think of is that snuggling with your better half is a bit awkward/hard with these pillows. Not impossible, just a little awkward since you can't really put your arm underneath it.10/19/17 UpdateSTILL using these pillows! Amazing, my investment has paid off. They are actually better now then they were new, they have loosened up just a fraction and you sink into them just a bit more, which is actually nice. That said, wow these things are $140 now? I'm not sure I would recommend them at that price, what I paid I already felt like was a lot for a pillow. I'm a bit out of the pillow game now I guess, but I would recommend looking at competing products as $140 is a stretch for a pillow.

noxious smell that makes me sick!
Since i got the pillow the smell of chemicals will not go away. I cant stand it anymore, this pillow has a noxious smell that makes me sick. As soon as I walk into my room I can smell the strong odor coming from the pillow. I tried airing it out but nothing works. There seems to be some toxic glue bonding the gel to the foam pillow that is making the nasty smell. I can almost taste the nasty chemicals after sleeping on it overnight.I wish I had bought a different pillow. The pillow is comfortable, but the smell makes it useless.

Sweet dreams
It is a bit higher loft then I expected, but that is what I get for buying high loft.Other then that small complaint this pillow is amazing.-The cooling gel makes sleeping so much more bearable.-Great balance between soft and hard foam.-The case it comes in is amazingly soft. Also didn't notice any smell when first removing it from packaging. So if you're looking at a memory foam pillow, I'd definitely recommend this. Just be careful about the loft size you select.
