Strong DAB reception, great bit of kit
Replaced the factory active aerial on my Mk3 (NC) MX-5 with one of these when I was upgrading the stereo for a DAB/CarPlay/Android Auto unit from Pioneer (SPH-DA77DAB). It fits well with no modifications required to the car. There's 3 wires, 1 for each of the radio signals (FM and DAB) and then a red power lead. I wired the red power lead to the "remote signal" blue/white wire of the stereo wiring harness. This ensures the aerial gets the power it needs. It immediately found more DAB stations than I'd ever seen before. This is way better than those stick on windscreen aerials but you get what you pay for.

Great aerial for dab reception and easy to fit
Great aerial and worked well once mountes and connected. Have bought several of these before to install for friends and worked well. Picks up dab stations great with no dropout and standard FM receprion is good.

Best DAB aerial I have tried - great reception!
Superb reception - top-class aerial! More involved fitting than a stick-on or mag-mount, but worth the effort. In reply to the confusion regarding hole size in other reviews (instructions not very comprehensive), I hope my experience may help: 1) loosen headlining above rear of roof and down one side (above the doors) to allow access behind; 2) measure inside and outside to fit (typically an inch or so forward of the rear/hatchback interior light); 3) drill a 19mm hole and fit the topmost rubber washer (the one with the square hole in the middle) into the hole with a bit of silicone sealant; 4) pass the cables through the hole and thread the rubber O-ring and the nut onto them. Push the aerial into the square-holed washer, then fit the O-ring and nut to the inside of the roof & tighten; 5) thread the cables behind the headlining and down the front (windscreen) pillar, then behind the dash, to the radio. Easier if you tape the 3 wires together every 6" or so; 6) connect the 2 aerial cables to the radio and the red wire to a switched positive (e.g. the auto-antenna wire from the radio, or splice it into the switched positive which connects to the radio). Disclaimer: I have no idea what I am doing, so under no circumstances should you follow my advice!

Extremely good reception compared to screen aerial.
I've not had a single problem with DAB since I fitted this and even managed to get reception by the bottom of the cliffs close to where I live, and that's something. It wasn't very nice having to drill a bigger hole in the roof of my car because the one for the existing FM aerial wasn't big enough, but the instructions said drill an 18mm hole and that turned out the be perfect and the seals appear to be keeping water out. After I'd fitted it I tried the radio before wiring up the 12v supply for the inbuilt signal amp and got a perfect reception so I do wonder how well it would work without that, but I proceeded to connect that up anyway. If I have one complaint it would be that the angle is not very steep and not adjustable. It would be fine it it were being fitted to a level section of bodywork but mine was replacing the factory fitted FM aerial on a Mondeo and the roof section there is quite sloping resulting in the aerial sticking almost upright. It doesn't look that noticeable but a nice swept back angle would have been nice. It's much shorter than the original too so the overall height is lower than it was. The cables are long and I had to tuck more than half of it neatly away behind the dash, but if you were going to the rear of the vehicle you'd be glad of that I suppose.

Good antenna but ...
... the installation instructions are rubbish! The antenna comes with three down leads pre-installed: one each for the DAB signal, FM signal and power supply. These are of adequate length to reach the dash from either front or rear roof positions. The base of the antenna mount has a 20mm square cross section and exactly matched the hole in the roof of my car (Citroen / Peugeot) made for the antenna it was replacing. There is also a rubber adapter to allow it to be fitted to a round hole. The securing nut has a washer with spikes to make a good earth connection and a rubber 'O' ring to seal the underside. None of this is explained in the instructions which do little more than identify the down leads.

Absolutely brilliant DAB aerial.
What a brilliant piece of kit, i tried a stick on type aerial first which was useless then i bought an active splitter that is supposed to use your existing car aerial which worked a bit but the DAB signal was still weak and it also made normal FM reception very week indeed, then i bought this and yes it was a bit awkward installing it and running the three wires down to the DAB unit and the exiting FM radio but once it was done the difference was unbelievable, i now have much better normal FM reception with so many more channels available than i even knew existed and my DAB signal is full at all times with no drop outs whatsoever as yet. I could not be more pleased with its performance i can now listen to crystal clear DAB reception everywhere and i am in very rural South Wales where you can barely get a phone signal.

No good for my car
Bought for an Astra h 2008 model.. The aerial did not fit/cover the hole in roof, it would have needed a base plate, when i contacted Hama Uk they just said product was not sold by them in the UK so cannot help.. I sent this back for a refund
