Yongnuo YN35 mm Lens for Canon Camera DSLR

Works on a Canon 300x film camera. Seems well made (plastic, but not too cheap, certainly seems better than the EF 28-90 III that came with the camera). Will update when photos are developed. Update: I bought it for a film camera, but I have recently been able to try it with a Canon digital body, unfortunately only the Digital Rebel XT (350d). I compared it to the 28-70 f/2.8L USM at 35 mm and my kit lens the 28-90 as above. Also, the Canon 50 mm f/1.8 was there too, but I didn't compare images due to the different focal length. Build quality wise it is very similar to the Canon 50 mm f/1.8. It is plastic, but feels better than my kit lens. It is quick to focus and produce decent, but not amazing images. Image quality wise, at f/8 the L lens obviously beats it, but I can't see much of a difference between the Yongnuo and the kit lens (the Canon 28-90 has more chromatic aberration, I think). At f/2.8 and f/4 the Yongnuo does not do so well. The kit lens beats the Yongnuo at f/4. So advantages of the Yongnuo: 2 stops faster than the 28-90 As good, perhaps better at f/8 Advantages of the kit lens: Zoom Better wide open (at f/4) These images were taken all at 35 mm. It is not scientific (the test chart is awful and awfully positioned), just thrown together without much care (after all I bought it a year ago so the deed is done). Also, the printer printed the test chart with pink. Would I buy a Yongnuo again? If starting out and I didn't have a kit lens and I wanted something cheap, yes, if I had a kit lens, then possibly yes, may be no depending on how I was feeling. I do like the fact it is f/2.8 and although in bright light you can see the images are slightly soft, in lower light, at least it has the aperture advantage and that two stop difference (compared to an f/4 lens) will translate to either 2 stop lower ISO or 2 stop faster shutter speed, which can only be a good thing.

This is a really excellent lens for the money, indeed it is pretty good regardless of the price. It has a solid feel to it, and the metal back seems substantial. Comparing it with the Canon 50mm f 1.8, which I also have, it feels slightly more solid, I have been trying some comparative tests, not on a scientific basis, because they were all hand held, the results show the Yongnuo at least as good as the Canon, that is in some pairs of subjects the Canon was sharper and in others the Yongnuo, the slight difference being fairly obviously due to slight camera shake - neither lens having any anti-shake system, (and the Yongnuo does not really need one if you are careful).. The tests were carried out on my Canon 60D, and showed the Yongnuo easily capable of providing images that will print to A3 or A3+ size..and appear properly sharp. . I Recommend it .

Been using this lens for a while now, using a Canon 700D (Rebel T5i). Bought this to get a closer approximation of 50mm on the crop sensor. Feels sturdy when using it, I'm not particularly precious with my equipment, and this has been able to withstand my punishment so far. Very nice lens, esp for the price, some colour fringing, but nothing too noticeable.

I'm so pleased with this lens, image quality is very good and it's fantastic value for money. Highly recommended!

Lens was scratched and wouldn’t change aperture. Very very noisy autofocus making it point less for video.

Ok i have said its ok . Its definition is fine F2 much softer. Its light and compact and turns my canon 700D into a big compact great for cycling. could use as holiday lens ok. No petel lens hood bayonet only filter screw fit. Now it has one failing. i originally bought one from Ebay chinaman and found front section of lens wobbles about by a few MM. its ok if you dont front of lens but could easily do bu Man Foc. If you look at pict in live view you can see pict moving about as you bias front of lens one way then the other. i have put on firm Tpod and taken picts with other cam looking direct at lens and got picts showing this shift. if you open two picts in layer then open shut layer eye you see the sideways jump. One wonders that it has no seal at front of lens so dirt may enter. it feels really naf when you handle lens especially as you put cam into a bag eg. I contacted Yongo they just said get exchange not a lot of help really . Its not worth doing that they must all have tis problem to some degree. I think yong will eventually make good lenses but need to heed feedback. Will try to attch two picts showing shift. Great value for money

I'm lovin it! I was very sceptical at first but after a day of playing with it I cannot be more happy. I think lens is very sharp - as for £70(ish) lens. I compared it with canon 40mm f2.8 and it is not that much far behind. It does deliver pretty sharp pictures even at f/2.0. I love the bokeh it is producing. Zoom is a bit noisy but i do not mind it as I will be using it for studio photography. Just do not use the filter that is included with the lens - it's super bad and it will make your pictures looks awful.

L'ottica 35mm f2 di Yongnuo è un altro passo nella direzione giusta. Da un po' di tempo stavo valutando se comprare o meno un 35mm ma ero sempre reticente visto il prezzo del modello base di Canon ovvero il nuovo 35mm f2 con stabilizzazione che va a rimpiazzare il vecchio 35mm a un prezzo molto più alto, per ovvie ragioni visto il design ottico migiorato e l'integrazione della stabilizzazione. Poi un mio amico mi ha fatto provare questa piccola ottica yongnuo che sembra prendere molta ispirazione dal vecchio Canon 35 e sono rimasto così colpito da comprarlo a mia volta. Come già anticipato la qualità dell'immagine è buona, a f2 su APSC la parte centrale è nitida e ai margini non si presentano decadimenti di qualità o aberrazioni cromatiche fastidiose, chiudendo un pò il diaframma si ottiene un'immagine migliore e va via anche un pò di vignettatura che comunque non considero fastidiosa. Alle volte il bokeh con le parti non a fuoco in background non è dei più piacevoli ma è una cosa che si può facilmente correggere in post produzione. La messa a fuoco nonostante usi un motorino di quelli classici, simile al 50mm 1.8 plastic fantastic di Canon (anche quello ormai sostituito dalla nuova versione) ma leggermente più silenzioso. Mentre mette a fuoco è udibile ma non tremendamente da essere fastidioso. L'accuratezza della messa a fuoco è comunque la cosa più piacevolmente sorprendente, raramente sbaglia e non ha quasi mai momenti di incertezza dove fa avanti e indietro per essere sicuro di essere correttamente a fuoco. Naturalmente dipende anche dalle condizioni di luce e da quanto bene il corpo macchina è in grado di gestirlo ma comunque ritengo questa messa a fuoco affidabile per azzeccarci la maggiorparte delle volte nonostante la mia 600D sia ormai leggermente datata. L'innesto dell'obiettivo è in metallo quindi e da un impressione di qualità decisamente migliore di un ottica con il mount in plastica, la plastica del barilotto non è delle migliori ma fa il suo e per il prezzo non si può essere troppo schizzinosi. Una nota negativa è l'anello di messa a fuoco manuale secondo me troppo poco spesso, saranno 3-4 millimetri con l'anellino di gomma e non è esattamente la cosa più ergonomica del mondo, usabile ma potrebbe essere migliorato con un anello di messa a fuoco spostato più nel mezzo del barilotto e con uno spessore maggiore in modo da renderlo più ergonomico. In conclusione, questo 35mm è praticamente l'unica opzione da poter usare sul sistema Canon EF / EFs per questa fascia di prezzo e tutto considerato ha delle prestazioni di tutto rispetto, è compatto leggero e riesce a produrre belle fotografie. 5 stelle meritate ma comunque c'è spazio per migliorare ancora.

Já uso essa lente há um tempinho, pedíamos emprestado de um amigo. Ela é ótima, tem um custo benefício melhor ainda, lente bem aberta, nítida. Curto muito essa marca. Vale a pena o investimento. Chegou antes do previsto, graças a Deus. Pq temos alguns eventos marcados que iremos precisar usar. Só comprem!
