I have thoroughly enjoyed learning and trying the recipes in this book. I feel like the book is worth more than its current price due to the depth and breadth of knowledge, history and experience crammed into it. Every cocktail listed has the back story of how it came about, plus the author’s opinion and experiences of each drink. There’s also lots of information on the science and techniques - it really goes deep into the details but in a way that is accessible and you find yourself learning a lot, very quickly. In addition to the simple-to-make classics there are much more complex and challenging recipes for those who want to take it further. All in all a superb book I highly recommend.

A great book for the cocktail enthusiast. This isn’t a standard recipe book. If that’s what you’re after just look online. This is a book written by someone that has a true passion for cocktails. It’s perfect if you already know a little bit, and have a fairly well developed liquor cabinet. The book oozes knowledge of drinks, flavours, history and science. It never strays far from my home bar, and is rarely closed. Can’t wait to read the sequel.

Good quality book but not very many recipes in it and certainly not many that you can try out when your starting off as they require a lot of preparation or strange ingredients but it is an interesting read.

Bought this book for my son's birthday, it certainly has everything a budding cocktail barman would need - and I've certainly been reaping the benefits... A beautiful book in itself with lovely photos and clear instructions, some exciting variations on some of the classics and interesting facts on the science and magic of cocktail making. An ideal gift... hic!

Bought this as a present for my boyfriend who is getting into making cocktails at home. Really lovely book, lots of information about the history and technicalities about cocktail making (which he really enjoys reading about) and really good quality as well. Includes recipes on lots of classic cocktails and the author has included a separate recipe which has a twist on the classic. Many of these twists involve advance preparation and equipment like a sous-vide, thermomix etc so not really doable. But still really interesting to read about. He loved it!

This was a brilliant book to buy for an amateur cocktail maker as a gift. The photos in the book add a more quality feel and make it a nicer gift than a simple 'recipe book' there are step by step sections and clear instructions throughout. The book offers a wide variety of mixes from the classic basics to something a little more fun or fancy.My boyfriend was thrilled to receive this as a fun gift for Christmas along with a beginners cocktail making kit both were relatively cheap and cheerful and it meant that I got to test the drinks he made so no complaints here!

My favourite of all Tristan Stephenson's "Curious..." books.Some of the cocktails are impossible to make without commercial kitchen equipment (such as the mojito with "spherification"), but don't let that put you off. Reading the recipes and process is nonetheless fascinating and educational.There are many references throughout the book to online video tutorials and online stores where required equipment can be purchased.I would definitely recommend purchasing this book, even if you're just looking for a few cocktail ideas. You'll still learn something from the cocktails too advanced for the humble home bartender to create.

L'ho scelto dopo aver cercato su google "best cocktail book" o qualcosa del genere. Lo consigliavano su alcuni siti, quindi mi è sembrato il più appropriato. Non posso dare molte altre informazioni sul libro in sé, comunque direi sia il regalo perfetto per chi 1)sa l'inglese 2)vuole imparare sia a fare i cocktail che la storia su di essi.
