At last!Trying to track down a well made lap tray is like trying to find the gold at the end of a rainbow.I have tried 4 different trays and they've all ended up being broken in no time at all. Either the sides fall off or the cushion splits, or they're about as supportive as jelly!That problem is no more. This is a fantastic tray. It is very well made with strong and nicely smoothed handles/sides that you can hold it by without fear of the bottom of the tray falling away with your plate and anything else you have on it. The sides are slightly sloped (the wood) and provide protection against the plate full of curry disaster as it slips off and you freeze, unable to stop it! No worries about that happening with this tray.The picture on the base is a variety of garden related water colours - including a watering can, oddly enough! The other item is an old boot! It has Parsley written on one side and Mint on the other. I think the intention is to show herbs growing out of the objects. Let's be honest, who cares?Another important point to note is the tray size. It would be unfair to compare the price of the tray to cheaper trays because of how large it is (in addition to the far superior quality of it). It is a very large tray.The photographs I have shown on this review show the tray with a full size dinner plate on it, a large mug and a tall glass. As you can see, there is still ample room for more items if you really need them.The base isn't as padded as many trays. However, it is more than adequate and comfortable on the lap.The only drawback with the tray is one that is being very harsh on it indeed, and it relates to the wooden sides. Because all of the sides are quite high, if you were to sit with the tray resting on something such as a chair or sofa arm (god forbid), you might find that the height of the sides gets in the way. It might have been a design advantage to have one side, where your hands would be, to be slightly lower than the other four.However, the above point is very minor.Overall, this is best tray I've seen on the market and I'd thoroughly recommend it without hesitation. It feels like it will last for years.p.s. I've amended this review for one simple reason - months on from my purchase and the tray is as good as new. So good in fact that we've bought a second.

Very good piece of kit

A handy, useful lap tray. TV dinner or just carrying your morning cuppa, it’s a sturdy and attractive tray that’s easy to wipe clean.

Very impressed by the quality of this tray. Not rocket science I realise. Not difficult to make a tray that sits on a knee. But they've done it. It must to be to do with the amount of beans in the bag. It just comfortably holds your dinner on you knee while you shout at the morons on The Chase who don't know what year the Battle of Hastings was fought. Or where! (Come on guys, the clue's in the question).I like the fact that the the whole thing is so well made. The bag that contains the beans is good quality fabric. The surrounds are real wood. (not sure what kind, almost certain it's not seasoned oak, but it looks nice). There's a pleasant design of herbs on the surface and the whole thing is well done. It's not cheap but for quality I don't expect cheap. Very pleased. It's enhanced my watching of The Chase.

Good size, easy clean.Not stable as filling moves if you do. So keep very still to use it

My adhd daughter is in love with it! It’s large, has a wipe clean surface, it has handles so that she can easily use to carry to her room and it balances well on her lap whether she is sitting up or laying partly down. Large enough for her plate, her glass of water, a mug of tea and even a bowl too. Also fits her large laptop easily when it’s not got her food and stuff on it. Now we all want one! It’s kind of perfect. Just wish they did lots of picture designs so we can each have a different one! Please do puppies!

Mother in law was really happy with this gift made life so much easier for her. And good quality I picked the best. Good quality, light weight, and description perfect and really good value too. Really pleased with this item and company. Only thing I could say I wasn't too happy with was box was slightly damaged, so carrier at fault, not company.

Had this for 1 year this month. It has seen infrequent use. It is now coming apart. The problem is that the base, which holds all the weight, has been glued to the underside of the wooden frame (which contains the handles). Therefore, if you put something really heavy on the base, (which may well be all your best china and a pot of boiling tea), it could easily just fall off the bottom of the wooden frame.Thankfully, we haven’t used it for anything heavy - just for a plate of food and a cup tea. Even so, after a year of fairly light and infrequent use, the base is coming apart from the frame.It is comfortable to put on your lap, but I wouldn’t buy it again and will shortly be replacing it with something designed properly to hold some weight. In fact, I would even consider the construction/design quite dangerous in view of what it may well be used for.If you are going to design something like this, then the base should be resting on top of at least part of the wooden frame, such as a lip of wood integral to the frame, not simply glued to the underside.
