It may be expensive initially but I hope to get years of use from it!!
I am very excited with this purchase. I purchased it as part of reducing my acid food intake as I have just been told I have osteoporosis. It is very empowering to know that something can be done to reverse the disease, and purifying the water is one of them.It was very easy to fit together and I have not had any drips or leaks at all. It comes with a full booklet of instructions and although they are a little confusing (aren't they always) it did literally take 5 minutes. The initial cleaning of the cartridges is very long and tedious, but the water tastes so much better. The drum size allows me to use the water for absolutely everything - cold drinks, tea and cooking. Even my dog will drink this water!! The level of the tap means that the purifier really has to sit next to the sink so that you can hold the receptacle underneath the tap but that is fine. It means that it is right there under my nose all the time and will therefore get used. This seems a better option to me than a water purifiying jug which does not remove half of what should be removed and it is cheaper than other options. It is also portable and can be moved from house to house.

Delicious filter water
This is an upgrade for me from an original filter that was made from aluminium. This is a very well packaged, well made filter. The taste of the filtered water that comes through the candles is delicious. It had a rubber bottom so sits in place without movement. It's easy to wash, and the candles are easy to install.Replacement candles are not too expensive, but apparently they they last for six months or so, and you can fit up to four inside the unit.Good value for money and great if you don't want all the junk they add into water these days.

Lovely tasting water again!
I gre up using these water purifiers in Africa and recently near where I live there is a new housing estate being built. On a frequent basis I was either getting slighlty dirty water or over chlorinated water, which I put down to the regular joining to the main water warks from the new estate. I bought this to clear out all the chlorine and rubbish. As you would expect it works perfectly and produces lovely tasting water. I drink a lot of water during the day and am quite sensitive to pollutants, thsi device cleans it all for you. I bought from this supplier becasue it was half the price of others for exactly the same thing. There is nothing new in these devices so when I see people trying to sell them for £250 its rediculous. The plastic tap that comes with it is rubbish and leaks, but for £12 you can get a Signstek 304 Stainless Steel Beverage Dispenser Spigot Replacement, and that is a very fine tap in deed and makes the whole contraption a class bit of kit.

Minor quibbles, but great product.
We upgraded from the Eva 7 litre filter. First of all, the Eva's supposed 7 litres are a bit of a lie: it holds 3 litres in the upper chamber, 4 litres in the bottom, and that's not counting the filter components that displace water volume. The bottom, in practice, held just over 2 litres. Even for just the two of us, that was way too small. Also, for the first couple of weeks, the water tasted weird--not quite plasticky, but distinctly off and certainly synthetic. After that, it settled and tasted fine (better than Brita and better than straight from the tap) but the unit was just too small. After about 9 months, the filters needed replacing and we did some digging for an upgrade. At first, I was a little dubious about the metal gravity filters. Would the water taste 'tinny'? Would we have more off-flavours at the start? Now we're so glad we made the choice to go with the Berkefeld unit. It's actually a touch narrower and only a couple cm taller than the Eva had been, so it takes up a little less space. Unlike the Eva, it holds a full 8 litres top and bottom, so I usually only have to top it up once per day.Our unit came with 2 Super Sterasyl candles; after the first round of water was filtered through I noticed a slight film (probably from the manufacturing process of the candles, as I had washed and dried the unit thoroughly) in the water in the top reservoir only, but a thorough rinse made sure that went away. Water tasted good on the second batch, and fantastic after that. We had ordered an extra 2 heavy metal filter candles to speed up the draw-down, and now that we know that the heavy metal ones are basically the Super Sterasyls with an added carbon core, we'll just order four of those when these need replacing. That being said, with four candles in place the water filters superbly fast, which is wonderful.Minor caveats: I do hate not having a water level gauge, and there isn't one available in the UK, as far as I can tell. I'm not particularly keen to shell out £40 + shipping on a spigot from the US, and lifting the entire top to check the level is a bit annoying. Also, the backing of the round part of the spigot rim, where you end up resting your finger to twist the spigot lever open, feels tacky. I'm not sure if it's stray adhesive or what, but I hope it's not also on the inside of the spigot. The knob you use to lift the lid was poured incorrectly so that it didn't sit flush when screwed in place, but a little sawing with a serrated knife (at your own risk) got it flush. Lastly, there was a small dent on part of the unit, though not enough to warrant a return (purely cosmetic) and the rest of the unit is beautifully constructed. This unit does use natural rubber: the washers that mount the filter candles in place and the exterior skid guard that protects your counter are made of rubber, which smells quite strongly at first and certainly would be a no-go for anyone with allergies or sensitivities. I think it'd be easy enough to make these units out of silicone, and do wish the company to consider that in the future. In the interim, it'd be easy enough to cut silicone (say, a baking tray liner or the like) to size and stack for thickness to use as washers if an allergy is in play.Overall, this was a great purchase, and the water tastes fantastic right away, with none of the metallic off-flavours I was worried about. We also have the peace of mind of knowing that the filter candles are affordable (it'll cost roughly £50 per year to replace them), which is more economical than the Eva and certainly (useless) Britas, and it's great buying a UK-made product.

A great looking piece of functional kit for the kitchen
Great piece of kit. Takes ages to filter so make sure you leave this overnight at least with the slow drip drip...but at least I know the filtering is working. I changed the tap for a stainless steel one for cosmetic reasons, and had to tighten it...but it works a treat. I love the look of this item and it came in cheaper than the original version. It looks great on my shelf and if I want to chase the ceramic filters for carbon ones this will work too. It will last for many many years, the build quality is excellent. Just make sure you've tightened everything as this is all that could go wrong, and this is the buyers responsibility when assembling. Came beautifully packed and was a delight to install. I feel confident our water is cleaner. We do quite often run out so I'd advise keeping an eye on how much water is left in the lower compartment before going to bed, we haven't got into this yet so find ourselves drawing from the tap quite often. The water flow does seem to be slower with the ceramic filters, we have another with carbon, but otherwise pretty darn good,

Excellent produit !
