I bought this product to assist my journey of becoming more environmentally friendly. This product is well made, does not rust and is easy to use.Changing the blades is easy (I don't think this one came with blades) and just requires the top to be unscrewed from the handle. The blades slot in easily and seem to auto-align themselves when you screw the top part back on.The handle is heavy, which improves control when using this razor. I used this a bit gingerly the first time and did not cut myself which boosted my confidence in using a safety razor.I purchased a separate pack of safety razor blades for about £4 for 100. I've had this razor for about 6 months and have used maybe 3 blades (I shave arms and legs every other day) so this is definitely an eco and money-saving product.All in all, this is an excellent product which I would buy again but won't need to as I reckon this will last a lifetime.

OK, so this review is given on my first impressions of this double-edged safety razor having used it once. Having used disposable razors for donkey's years and gone through several "brands", I am annoyed at paying out every couple of weeks for replacement blades/cartridges. I am also trying to lead a more eco-friendly existence so I thought I'd give this shaving a go.The L5 is an elegant design and a lovely weight, having never used a safety razor before, I was a little dubious about it and the possibility of slicing my face and neck to bits but this just works. I use it with Arko shaving soap and the Astra blades, the shave is close and smooth, the soap is refreshing and I am happy with the results and the fact that essentially this is completely recyclable.

In trying to steer my family down the "zero waste" Route. I say zero in the loosest sense of the word, that being; I'm following the movement to lessen mine and my families environmental footprint, by expelling as much limited use and disposable plastics as possible (it's a start).I saw a Jagen David razor being promoted by a few promoters of the zero waste lifestyle and thought it would be a good idea to buy one and a pack of Astra blades (£10 ish for 100 blades ) for the Husband. After he finished laughing at me saying his dad used to use razors like these in the 50's and 60's, he gave it a go (having his usual disposables in stock as back up).His first thoughts were that the razor head was too bulky and found it difficult to use near the nose around the upper lip, but he managed really well with it and it seems to shave as close as his disposables. He's had it a week or so now and he's gotten used to it. I bought him a badger hair brush to use but he won't use that so just uses soap and water. He's not changed the blade in his razor yet but a week on a razor is generally good going in our household as he hates a blunt blade. So far I'm impressed and he is getting used to the change. He hasn't complained so I'm presuming he's become a fan. When my electric shaver breaks, I'll consider using one myself.

Beautifully designed, balanced and finished, this razor joins my Muhle R89 Grande and my Parker 12R in my razor collection and it rightly deserves its place there. It will give you life long service of close, comfortable shaves. It sits perfectly in the hand and is also of a good length. I shaved with it for the first time on the very day I took delivery and it was an absolute delight from beginning to end. If you've never used a safety razor before then I would like to suggest you start. Once the initial razor is purchased you then only need to buy the blades and when you consider that you can purchase 200 d/e razor blades for under £10 then it surely is a no-brainer.I have no hesitation in giving this razor five stars. *****

As a woman who has spent most of my adult life depending on disposable razors it was high time I switch to something less wasteful. This razor has been perfect, the weight of it actually rests very nicely in the hand and makes it easy to have at the right angle. It takes a little more patience than the lubricated razors, but is well worth it both financially and environmentally and was much less painful to adjust to than I anticipated. It is a pretty rose gold color, and has not discolored or shown any sign of ageing after using for the past year. Wish I had switched earlier!

I chose this after reading lots of good reviews - and if you have a rounder face, or just tidying a beard, I'm sure it's fine. It works reasonably well when you-re going down your cheeks, though it does drag because of the weight. Unfortunately, it's horrible for cornering your jaw line. The handle has no grip as soon as it's at all wet and the end of the handle is so heavy it makes the razor very unbalanced. This means the razor always want's to hang down, not angle to your face. It's a razor - not a hammer. You shouldn't have to hold onto it like one, but the weight and lack of grip make a feathery touch slippery and unforgiving. I'll be searching for something else.

This is a very nicely made, good quality razor handle for the price. Some people have mentioned that it is slippery when wet as it has no grip section. This is quite inaccurate. There is a grip section near the top of the handle, but regardless of where you hold it, there has been no problem with slipping for me. Just keep hold of it, it won't wriggle.If anyone is thinking of buying this razor handle and might be slightly put off by some reviews, I would honestly say just get it. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Two weeks in and no cuts yet. The shave is close and shaving rash below the jaw line has cleared up.Probably an issue of all safety razors, but I echo the reviews that noted the housing for the razor makes shaving under the nose a little awkward - but not impossible.If you've never used a safety razor, this was my first attempt and very simple. I would recommend getting a good shaving soap - this does not work as well with a normal shaving foam - I have no idea why. The same is true the other way, tried using my Mach 3 with a shaving soap - doesn't work.

Ich habe zwar ein hochwertiges Rasiermesser für mein Gesicht, aber für die Brust ist dieses nicht geeignet. Ich war es leid, den hohen Preis der Supermarktklingen für Systemrasierer zu bezahlen (selbst die von LIDL und ALDI sind immer noch recht teuer), also habe ich nach einem einfachen Rasierhobel gesucht, bei dem die Klingen *deutlich* billiger sind. Aufgrund der Rezensionen und des günstigen Preises habe ich mich für diesen hier entschieden. Und ich muss sagen, ich bin sehr überrascht welche "Wertigkeit" man für ca. 17€ bekommt! Der Hobel ist gut verchromt, wiegt einiges so dass er solide in der Hand liegt, und macht einen teureren Eindruck als der Preis vermuten lässt. Ich habe die extralange Edition genommen weil ich ein großer Kerl mit großen Händen bin.Das Einlegen der Klinge ist kinderleicht, denn es gibt nur eine Möglichkeit, und für diese braucht man keine Anleitung weil es völlig intuitiv ist: Am Griff schrauben, dann hat man den "Deckel" und die Auflage wo die Klinge draufkommt in der Hand. Dazwischen steckt man die Klinge (normale Rasierhobelklingen). Der Griff hat einen Stift am Ende, den man von unten durch die Löcher von Auflage und Klinge schiebt, und dann schraubt man einfach den Deckel drauf und fertig. Die Klinge biegt sich dadurch leicht nach unten.Welchen Winkel man wählen muss (die 30 Grad) spürt man und macht es intutiv richtig. Wenn er falsch ist schneidet man die Haare nicht ab :-) Nur mit dem Andruck muss man etwas spielen, denn man wird feststellen dass man anfangs versucht ist, einen Tick zu fest zu drücken, was dann mit kleinen Hautabrieben/Blutfleckchen quittiert wird. Dennoch ist es fast nicht möglich sich mit diesem Hobel so zu verletzten wie mit einem Rasiermesser; die Dinger heißen ja nicht umsonst auch "Sicherheitsrasierer".Der Rasierer ist natürlich nur so gut wie seine Klingen, und ich nutze ihn mit den zurecht viel gehypten Klingen von Feather, die sich in (nicht nur) meinen Vergleichstests als *deutlich* schärfer als die etwas günstigeren Produkte herausgestellt haben.Es wird ein Etui mitgeliefert, das allerdings innen und außen aus Pappe besteht und meiner Meinung nach nicht edel genug ist um aufgehoben zu werden. Für 17€ wäre es auch vermessen, auch noch eine tolle Verpackung zu erwarten.Hier kann man definitiv nichts falsch machen, und ich wüsste auch nicht was bei anderen Rasierern wesentlich besser sein sollte, es sei denn man will ein materiell höherwertigeres Produkt aus edlem Metall oder mit superduper Design. Das rasiert aber nicht besser. Investiert lieber in bessere Klingen.

Diesen Rasierhobel kann man ohne wenn und aber als Preis Leistungs Knüller bezeichnen! Sehr wertig verarbeitet Top verchromt und ein sehr ansprechendes Design zeichnen Ihn erstmal Optisch aus dazu kommt natürlich das wesentliche die Rasur und auch da überzeugt er auf ganzer Linie! Der L5 ist sehr sanft aber absolut gründlich bei der Rasur und auch sehr einfach zu Handhaben,den Neigungswinkel muß jeder für sich rausbekommen ist aber kein Problem weil dieser Hobel kleine Fehler nicht gleich in Blut ummünzt, ich habe noch um einiges teurere Rasierhobel von Merkur und Edwin Jagger und muß gestehen das diese Hobel wirklich super sind aber nicht besser als der Jagen David der auch noch durch den 11 cm langen Griff sehr schön in der Hand liegt,nur beim einlegen der Klinge gibt es einen Unterschied zu den anderen Rasierhobel die meistens durch 2 oder 3 kleine Pinne Zentriert werden wogegen der L5 nur ein einzigen mittigen Pinn hat der aber vollkommen ausreicht weil die Klinge in einen leichten Radius gedrückt wird und dadurch Bombenfest sitzt wenn man den Hobel wieder zuschraubt! Ich rasier mich überwiegend mit Klingen von Astra und gelegentlich auch Derby wobei ich aber Astra bevorzuge,ich weiß nicht wieviel Geld man investieren muß um eine wesentlich bessere Rasur als bei dem L5 zu bekommen was auch sehr schwer sein dürfte, ich jedenfalls erziele mit Hobel um die 35 - 50 Euro kein besseres Ergebnis das lässt mich zu dem Schluss kommen das der Jagen David ein echter Geheimtipp ist ,Verarbeitung Optik und Preis sind überragend und außerdem ist der Sicherheitshobel ringsrum geschlossen was so auch seltener ist ! Über die Langlebigkeit kann ich noch nichts sagen hoffe aber das er einige Jährchen hält ! 5 Sterne Michael Lorenz

Muy buenos acabados, buena alineación de la cuchilla, mango pesado y un cromado en condiciones. El afeitado es muy cómodo y seguro, y el apurado es bueno siempre que se sepa encontrar el ángulo adecuado. Ha sido una buena compra. El único pero es que la caja de la maquinilla ha llegado con algún desperfecto, rota por un lado pero sólo el cartón, la maquinilla estaba en perfecto estado.
