Sturdy wooden decorative box. Bags of character, quirky and fun.
This inexpensive, rustic, aged looking storage box is made from wood, with metal rivets, two rear hinges and front clasp. Faux leather handle and straps with attached metal buckles close and hold the lid securely with brass poppers on the ends of the straps. The uploaded pics give - hopefully - a bit more detail. The outer measurements are as per the description. Inner (working) dimensions are - length 13", width 4", depth 3", with the domed lid giving you another couple of inches headroom, but there is a strut running the length of the underside of the dome which takes about half an inch headroom off the apex. It's got bags of character. Might not be the epitome of craftsmanship and materials, but there's loads of attention to detail, and whether it's going to be used as a kid's treasure chest, or as I'm doing, somewhere to keep bottles of essential and aromatherapy oils tidy and uncluttered.I particularly like this box because it's big enough to store not just my treasured oudhs and incense, but also 30ml and 50ml bottles of EO, and not just the 10ml tiddlers.

Small, functional, good looking. Slightly weak...
Used as a prop for international pirates day- buried it on a beach in Argyll filled with chocolate coins, before returning to dig it up, sing some shantys and tell tales about our nominated pirate of that year (2015 was Cpt William Kidd). Some local children became involved after watching me bury the chest earlier that afternoon. Anyone else would probably have called the police!A great night was had by all, with coconuts drinks (drilled with a hole and a straw inserted) and mango, pineapple and chilli skewers barbecued over the fire. The chest is perhaps a little more neat (and small) than I imagined, but it held the papyrus scroll and coins nicely. I think it was accidentally tapped by an over excited buckaneer unearthing it with the shovel, and naturally it's build quality doesn't allow it much durability, so it is now slightly warped. However- it should still be okay for IPN 2016! Yarrr!

Lovely rustic-look box!
Pleased with my purchase! I use it for my incense sticks and now it has that nice aroma from the scented sticks which adds to its appeal. Reasonable price. Can be used for pretty much anything: storing scented candles, maybe perfumes, needlecraft materials, even jewelry although there are no compartments and no lock on the outside. A bit of wood craft with some soft thin wood panels and cloth coverings would make that possible.Nice size, not too bulky and very light. Very happy with it.

You get what you pay for
I bought this last week as a display piece for a props display. While I admit it was better than I expected, to future buyers - expect what you pay for with these boxes.LikesThe finish is nice, colour is good and it looks suitably 'aged'. The leather work is nice and wooden moldings are reasonable. Interior is spacious and I have added a red leather 'cushion' inside mine to display props on. Overall it doesn't look out of place in my display of true vintage items.Dislikes.The box is incredibly light and the wood very thin - I believe it's probably built from Balsa wood or similar. Walls are only 4-5mm thick. I'm almost certain this box would break easily if it was used in even the lightest capacity, other than as a display piece. Because of the thin wood, my box actually came slightly warped. It only holds itself square when the lid is down and clasp locked. With the lid open, the bottom section is warped enough that two of the corners that should sit flat on the shelf lift about 3-4mm. It doesn't bother me too much and I could probably fix it if it begins to bug me.A small niggle, but speaks of the build quality- the metal studs holding on the leather are rather haphazardly placed. This may be a 'designed fault' to give it a more rustic look, but really just makes the finish look a bit cheaper.Overall, I'm happy with the box despite its obvious flaws. As I say - you get what you pay for - but if you're looking for something other than a display piece, look elsewhere.

Awesome!
I’m so pleased with this lovely artisan box. It’s perfect. I’ve lined it with gold velvet and it looks amazing. That’s a wand in case your wondering - made for me from 5000 years old bog oak and finished with sterling silver.

This box looks great. I've bought it for my 3 year old nephew for xmas as a pirate chest and am going to fill it with chocolate coins as the treasure. It looks the part but for the money I would have liked it to be a bit bigger so I've taken a star off for that reason.

Bought as a Gift
Bought for a gift for my 7 year old nephew, for Christmas, who is going through a 'treasure' phase. He love make believe and has a great imagination, so this fit the bill.Still going strong 4 months on.
