Codelocks 0100 SG CL100 Surface Deadbolt Mechanical Lock, Silver Grey

Took about an hour to fit into my gate. Just take your time, offer up and measure twice before committing. Change of code was simple enough too.

Installation instructions were not overly clear is reason for 4 stars, I got on fine with them but some may struggle. I decided against changing the default code as it looked a bit tricky. Used on a garden gate to allow egress with it being secured and then accessible on return. Can be set so it can be locked from the keypad side so very useful.Comes with two alternate lock keeps, one surface mounted and one for recessing. I expected this to be difficult to fit after reading other reviews but found it pretty straight forward. Just 3 holes through the gate and it went on.Changing the code was a little confusing at first but easy enough once I'd read the instructions a couple of times! It's seems well made and had lots of accessories to fit a number of different gate layouts. You can also change it so that it locks with or without inputting the code.Only thing I don't like is the fact the code can be entered in any order and it'll open but it's a garden gate, not Fort Knox so if someone really wants to get in they'll just kick it anyway.

This lock started failing to lock reliably after a few months. Annoyingly the only way to ensure it locks is to turn it and then press C.

Although pretty straightforward to install (drill 3 holes essentially) there is something of a faff to change the combination....you really need 3 thumbs! In addition the number of combinations available is more limited as the numbers can be entered in any order and the lock will open. So if you set the combination to 1234, then 4321 2314 1432 etc will open it. The lock will become more insecure if the numbers you use become apparent through wear or dirt etc. I wouldn't rely on this for anything other than mild deterrence.

Take your time reading instructions, same for fitting. Make sure the rubber surround is seated properly then you won’t get rust inside. Run some oil in inside before and after winter. We have had one on gate for 8 years now , and still working.

I don't normally write reviews but thought I should give codelocks credit for their customer service if nothing else.Really nice product to use and easier enough to install if you give yourself plenty of time to set up and install.Mine developed a fault after about six months. I phoned codelocks. No waiting, straight through to an actual person. They sent me a free post label and I sent it off. 3 days later, I got it back working like knew and they had replaced and repaired certain innards of the lock. Time will tell weather it'll last after being repaired but id buy from them again just because they were so easy to deal with.
