Forty Acres and Maybe a Mule

I read this book in 5th grade and decided to get it for my son. It stuck with me as a kid and I think it's important for kids to read history through the eyes of others. My son enjoyed the book as well and recommended it to his cousins so worth the read to me.

As an Adult it's a story for old and young alike! Perfect book to read to your kids!

This is a fantastic book to use as a read-aloud for a classroom to give a more personal effect to the Reconstruction period of the United States after the Civil War. Some parts are sad and need a more thorough explanation to children, but it's realistic enough so they can understand that times were tough for everyone, including free slaves and poor whites.

We used this for homeschool. Great read. Convenient to have on Kindle, so no shelf space taken up!
